CHAPTER 31- THE GREAT BATTLE PART 1

************************************************************************************************************

A ting of metal being hit made Avery open her eyes. Once they were open, she regretted it. She wasn't in the hide-out room. Instead she was in a red room, well it looked red. There was black smoke above her and as it cleared away, Avery noticed she was in a black cage.

Avery jumped up and took in her surroundings. It was a grand room, filled with dead plants and candles. A black marble fireplace burnt wood and the decor was Gothic - black chairs and rugs, tapestries with pictures of demons and the devil. Avery's opened wide when she realized where she was: in the underworld! She shook her head and closed her eyes, hoping it was a dream but when she opened them, she was still there, in the cage and in the dark, gloomy room. Avery stood up and  felt a collar on her neck. She touched it and it had spikes on it.

Big doors flew open and he walked in. His hair as black as ever, his eyes as evil as ever, his smile as proud as ever. Avery glared at him as he walked to the chair and threw his cape off before turning his attention to her. He tilted his head and walked to her, smiling. Avery backed away in the cage as he got closer and then she reached the back, realizing it was not a very big cage. She shook with fear as he stared at her.

"Princess Avery of Carcassone," Argon's voice echoed in the room and suddenly all around, demons and spirits appeared and bowed and curtsied, but not to Argon but to her. Avery looked at them in confusion while Argon noticed her expression making him bellow with laughter. Avery jumped in fear as it came so suddenly.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. And you seem so surprised, why?" Argon asked her reassuringly. Avery pointed her finger at the demons.

"Why did they bow to me, instead of you?" Avery stuttered and Argon turned his head to them.

"Because you're a princess, aren't you?"

"Yes, but they hate me. You, hate me," Avery mumbled and Argon chuckled.

"Oh, I never said that! I don't particularly like you, but let's be honest. I need you. You're so powerful, power none of the other fairies have, not even petty Clarissa. I can use you, you can help me and we can both get what we want..." Argon explained as he paced around the cage. Avery watched him, frowning.

"Why would I help you? You killed my parents and Alex!" Avery cried and Argon threw a sword against the cage, making Avery jump.

"I killed your parents because quite frankly, they were getting in the way of what I wanted, you. And I have wanted you ever since Clarissa hired you," Argon said sounding seductive and Avery felt her heart melt. She stared into his eyes and she became mesmerized by him. But then she shook her head and backed away from him, heading to the opposite side of the cage.

"And what about Alex?" Avery asked and Argon laughed.

"Alex? I never touched him! He surrendered himself to me, and I took him on," Argon said casually and Avery turned her head quickly to him. She shook her head, tears rolling down her face.

"Alex is alive?"

"Of course! He wasn't a complete waste as it was his idea to send that shape-shifter in after you. And I absorbed much of your power, so his plan worked..." Argon explained and Avery started to smile and it dropped.
