CHAPTER 11 - CHANGES

************************************************************************************************************

Dylan had realised it had been quiet ever since Avery had left. His mother had calmed down and continued doing her duties as Queen. Raphael spent a lot of time conversing with Baron Erhard and Selenita took advantage of the palace seamstress.

His relationship with his mother had been slowly dropping as she soon realised he was deliberately avoiding Selenita even though they were to marry soon. Raphael had also noticed this and his suspicions rose. He jumped to a conclusion immediately that there was someone else and he had to find her and keep her away, even if it meant destroying her. Erhard was oblivious to this, he just liked being in Enchanted. He found it better then the underwater city and he loved the attention he got but every now and again he would disappear into his room and not return for a while. Selenita did everything she could to get Dylan's attention but he avoided her like the plague and she knew he was hiding something. It got to a point where she had to tell the queen and king of the issue.

"Your majesties, Dylan seems to be completely oblivious to me. He avoids me and barely says a word to me unless I start the conversation. He spends a lot of time in his room and if not there he's always in the courtyard with that guard, training. You have told him we are to marry soon, so why is he like this?" Selenita was frustrated. She knew when she married Dylan she would be a princess, one step closer to queen. Once she was queen, she could banish people who disliked her and ones she didn't like, which were a lot. She knew she would reign supreme and everyone would love her. She'd remove the fairy-love ban and everyone can fall in love, like she did but did her future-husband feel the same?

Clarissa sat in a comfy chair in the study and Raphael floated over head searching for a good read. Selenita was seated opposite Clarissa and a big fire burned bright and high in the fireplace. Clarissa sighed and leaned back in her chair in a hump.

"Selenita, sweetie, I've talked to him, I really have, but maybe this whole situation has just gotten to him. Troy isn't here and he refuses to marry without his cousin who is also his best friend. Give him time, as the two of you cannot marry without consent from both of you but he'll pull himself together. You may keep trying to get his attention but don't get all huffy and stubborn because he ignores you, okay," Clarissa said as she sat up straight again. She kept eye-contact with Selenita to make sure she knew she was being serious. Clarissa loved her son dearly but why did he have to be so difficult?

It was pretty late and Selenita left the study to rest her head in her chambers. Clarissa hadn't seen Erhard ever since dinner but she suspected he was in his chambers too. After a while, Clarissa also left and Raphael followed her. After both changed into their sleeping garments, Clarissa sighed in concern and Raphael spoke,

"What's the problem, dear?" He said as he walked over to her side of the bed and sat next to her.

"Its Dylan. Selenita says he's avoiding her and he seems to be in his own little world. Do you think we should be concerned?" Clarissa spoke in a slow, motherly way.

"Go talk to him. You're his mother, he'll tell you everything. And even if he doesn't you'll know when he's lying," Raphael said taking Clarissa's hand and squeezing it for comfort. Clarissa smiled at him and nodded with agreement. The queen got up, walked out of her room and headed to her son's chambers on the other side of the long, hall-way.

Upon arriving, Clarissa knocked on the door several times, before Dylan said she could enter. She might be queen and his mother but he still deserved some privacy and respect. Dylan's room was tidier than usual and his balcony doors were wide open. Clarissa walked over to Dylan who was seated on a chair near a fireplace. He was staring into the fire with immense concentration.
