CHAPTER 15 - HELP FROM A LIKELY SOURCE

************************************************************************************************************

Dylan jumped up so quickly, Avery fell in a heap onto the dusty, sandy floor. He leaned over into the lake but whoever was there, had gone. Dylan walked back to the wall, gronaing out loud before he punched it with great force that Avery couldn't help but scream. She ran to Dylan to stop him from hurting himself.

"Dylan! Stop it! You're going to hurt yourself!" Avery held his arms so he couldn't punch the wall again. Dylan looked to Avery's terrified face and stopped. He looked at her, she had tears in her delicate eyes and Dylan hated seeing her like that. He turned to face, took her face in his hands and gently kissed her lips. He felt the trembling of her lips and as he pulled away, he hugged her tight, stroking her hair.

"I'm so sorry Avery if I scared you. I'm just angry," Dylan whispered into her ear. Avery felt his warm breath tickle her neck. Avery broke off their hug and looked at Dylan's sorry face.

"But why?" Avery had to know why her soul-mate tried to punch the wall down. Dylan sighed and stroked her face with the back of his fingers. They were cold and Avery closed her eyes at his touch.

"Avery, it's complicated. Fairies cannot fall in love. Mother had banned all fairies from finding their soul-mates and although she knew some still did, Raphael would banish them, without mother's permission. If he found out about us, you'll be sent away from me and I can't have that as I need you more and more everyday," Dylan said and Avery smiled at his care. Dylan hugged her again, holding her tighter and tighter as he knew he was lying. He couldn't tell Avery the truth as things would go awry and Avery would think that the two of them being soul-mates is a lie. Dylan broke off their hug and took Avery's hand and led her to the lake.

"We must go back. Mother and Raphael would be suspicious and I think your mermaid can control herself..." Dylan said with a smirk making Avery blush. She smiled at Dylan before they fixed their apperances and jumped into the lake with their mer-creature forms overtaking their bodies. Avery swam with Dylan and she smiled at him. They swam slower this time and they played with the other mer-creatures in the Underwater Kingdom before heading out to the open sea. Avery looked at the kingdom one more time, hoping it wouldn't be the last. She followed Dylan as he continued to swim but what ran though her head was what she had just done. She was a princess, frolicking like she had just done with a man was not in the job description. Avery liked it and she didn't want Dylan to move away from her but what would happen when she returns? She had to marry before she could become queen and as soon as Olivia was married, it would be her turn. And then her coronation! Avery shook her head ot the thought and continued to swim with her love but she didn't know he had a secret as well...

She was furious, more than ever. She couldn't believe what she was hearing and she didn't want to believe it. Everyone was talking about them and she hated it. She wanted to be centre of attention, not them. She knew something was going on between then the first day she met them. Him, with his rugged, brown messy hair that fell over his blue-grey eyes so dreamily. His structured cheek-bones and his chiseled face, she knew he was perfect for her. But then 'she' came into the picture. Her with her brown curly hair that fell to her waist, her contagious laugh, her perfect smile, her jade green eyes that sparkled. She knew he was in love with her and he showed it. Selenita marched around her room thinking of what to do. She had to do something about Avery and Dylan, one of them had to go and it was easy which one. Selenita didn't care that Avery and Dylan were soul-mates, Avery had to go. If Selenita was ever going to be queen, Dylan had to forget about Avery, one way or another. She didn't love Dylan, Selenita had found her soul-mate but she knew he could never allow her to become queen. The thing was what was she going to do about Avery? The princess was an angel in Clarissa's eyes, a warrior towards the other fairies, a good friend towards Alex and a animal lover to the mer-creatures. So she had to do something that would banish Avery forever, something Dylan could never forgive her for. But she couldn't do it alone, she needed the help of someone, someone who was much against Dylan and Avery's courtship as she was. Someone powerful...
