Chapter 11 - Changes

Start from the beginning

"Dylan, can I talk to you?" Clarissa said as she walked over to him. He nodded without looking up because he knew what was coming. Clarissa seated herself on the chair opposite his. After a long sigh, Clarissa started and didn't think she'd stop.

"Sweetie, Selenita thinks you're avoiding her. I know, you're not happy about this whole marriage thing but, I'm sorry. It's how it is and I can't change it now. I know it might be the case that you probably don't want to marry until Troy returns with your aunt and I understand. If you get along with Selenita and agree to go forward with this, the marriage will not take place until they're home, I promise. I made mine, now you make yours please?" Clarissa talked. She continued talking about all the things he could do to make Selenita happy and forgive him for his ignorance.

Dylan made eye-contact with his mother and she still continued. He had to tell her. He had to tell her everything, how he was feeling and why he was acting the way he was. He knew she wouldn't be happy but she'll hopefully understand. But the thing was, even he wasn't sure how he was feeling. He'd never felt this way before about anything or anyone. His mother continued to talk and Dylan blurted it out,

"I'm in love mother."

Clarissa stopped and looked at her son with shock. "I beg your pardon?" She said. She sounded angry but she controlled it as it was late and she didn't want to upset her son.

"I'm in love, or I think I am. I've never felt this way and I only think of her, all of the time. We're connected in someway because I have this constant need to be with her, to hold her in my arms and look into her eyes and hear her say she feels the same way. Is this normal, mother?" Dylan said getting up because he was panicking like never before. What was wrong with him? He felt his mother's hand on his shoulder and she sighed and he closed his eyes in disappointment.

"I've experienced love. Its a strong bond and the strongest bond between two fairies. Love between two fairies is powerful and can determine a fairy's soul-mate. Its the only thing they can think of and everything around them is a blur. To have that person with them and to hold them and love them makes a fairy the strongest they'll ever be. Dylan, my son, you are in love and this girl you are in love with, is your soul-mate. It's nothing to be embarrassed about. But please, do tell me, who is she?" Clarissa said and Dylan walked away from her. He knew if he told his mother, his 'soul-mate' would be banned from Enchanted forever and he couldn't have that because he needed her like never before her. He knew it was crazy, because he barely knew her but he had to have her in his arms and he didn't think he could go through another day without her, so if she was banned, he didn't know how he would survive.

"Dylan please tell me," Clarissa pleaded. She needed to know so she knew who it was that stole her son's heart. Dylan was reluctant at first but he eventually spoke and he was expecting his mother's reaction.

"Mother it's..." Dylan was cut off by a trumpet in the distance. Both the prince and his mother leaped for the balcony and looked down into the city. They were under attack!

"Mother, go hide quickly. And call Raphael and Erhard. Take Selenita with you. Quickly, mother!" Dylan said  practically pushing his mother out of the door. Two guards found the queen and took her to the safe room which was located in a secret part of the palace. Selenita followed, terrified and shivering with fear. Dylan grabbed his sword and headed out of the palace. He found the baron and king. They were prepared for what was coming.

Heading out the palace doors, they knew who attacked them. Many spirits and demons flew and hovered all over of the place, setting houses and stalls on fire. Guards and soldiers were already out, fighting and defending the palace. Dylan headed out into the crowd and fought for his life, his mother's and his kingdom. The king and Baron followed and soon they were consumed into a battle of good versus evil.
