In January, Nayoung, Sejeong, and Mina were introduced as Jellyfish Entertainment's first female trainees on Produce 101. Produce 101 is an Mnet survival show where 101 female trainees from various companies competed to debut in an 11 member girl group. The group would promote for a year under YMC. Sejeong and Mina placed in the top 11 in the final episodes and debuted as members of I.O.I in May.
