They are the longest active boy group. They are listed in the Guinness Books of World Records for being the longest-running group. Shinhwa are considered one of the pioneers of the K-pop idol culture. There name is the Korean word for myth or legend. They went on a four year hiatus in 2008 while the members went to the army. When they returned they established Shinhwa Company and released their 10th album "The Return". They then became the first Korean boy band to last after the members' mandatory military services. Eric and Minwoo are the co-CEO's of Shinhwa Company and the other members are shareholders. They are also the first K-pop idol to lead a successful career after leaving their original agency. Each member has had successful solo careers and several have also had great acting careers.
