Eric Nam is a Korean-American singer discovered through his cover songs on YouTube. In June 2011, a JYP representative suggested he go to a JYP audition in New York, however he turned it down to continue his studies. That same month he posted a cover of 2NE1's "Lonely". MBC found the cover and immediately flew him to Korea for an in-person audition. That December he appeared on Birth of a Great Star 2 . He competed for 8 months and finished in the Top 5, he then flew back to the USA and performed at a nationwide talent competition called Kollaboration Boston 2. In 2012 he became an MC at MBC Star Audition Season 2. He signed with B2M Entertainment on September 25, 2012. After his contract expired he signed with CJ E&M. In 2013, he became an MC for his show After School Club which is an English speaking variety show that features a different KPop idol or group every week.
