Holding out for a win

"Why would you attend to me next?! I'm not one of the strongest!" Soycoss made her doubts known. Djen smiled. It wasn't something she did very often.

"I don't know if you're weak or strong." She answered, "But the fact is, you're one of those who understand what's at stake here and that's why you're afraid. In times of war, you find that fear and not strength is your greatest ally. If we need just one more person to be ready that person is you."

Djen's speech lightened up Soycoss' day that had been rather dark. Once again, she felt like she had a role to play in something bigger than herself-the destiny of a world. But one question remained on her mind; how much of the outcome of this war was dependent on her...on all of them?

As had been her hope, Djen was able to fix up all the holders before the dynamics of the exchange tipped against them. They were all completely healed and could now worry about someone other than themselves. From afar, they could see them...the fights in different parts of the city. In the west, the skies were red, yellow, green, blue and purple; very bright lights from what had been the red queen's army. The saddest thing about the whole situation was the awful number of soldiers who were fallen by blade of a comrade. As they fought men...things they couldn't see, they found themselves swinging their swords randomly. By any measure, Jim's army would emerge victorious in no time.

Somewhere on the opposite side, Jim and Krystaliale were tasseling it out in what seemed to be a stalemate. Krystaliale was completely focused on destroying the child who had challenged her and her attention was solely on this task. From all the dodging and blocking, Jim was sweating and panting heavily. The red queen on her part seemed to be just beginning. As she had done several times before, she attempted to split Jim into two from the head down but he completely dodged her attack. He was getting very tired and she wasn't showing any sign of slowing down!

"You have lost a lot of men..." Jim uttered, "Soon you will be completely surrounded!"

This statement was meant to make her lose focus but it seemed to have the opposite effect! The slashes became more rapid and that much harder to guard against or even dodge. For some reason, all her sword strokes were now fully concentrated on the forehead area! As he became more and more exhausted, Jim was running out of options...he would soon be forced to do it! That moment he took to worry was his undoing. Krystaliale landed her hot blade right in the middle of his forehead but he managed to skip back before she cut through his face. The cut was bleeding and it hurt a lot! Now that she had drawn first blood, his opponent would be highly motivated. That must have been what she was going for!-Jim thought.

"You landed the first cut! I guess I should get serious too..." Jim commented.

"Dark blue! I have always hated that boring colour!" Krystaliale responded. What was she talking about?! He took a moment to think and he noticed that the Krichnd's soldiers had dark blue armour-she could now see them! If she could see them, so could everybody else. The invisible army had lost their advantage and weren't even aware of it yet. How did that happen?!-Jim wondered and the very second he realised it was because of the crack in the crown, Krystaliale's blade brushed past his face making off with a few strands of hair. He thought he had gotten off easy until the crown split into two and fell to the ground.

Everything was falling apart fast. As the pieces of the crown hit the ground, the Krichnd's army vanished. Victory which had been certain a few minutes back was getting out of reach.
