part56 SYNOPSIS; a young woman, a girl and beasts. who prospers?

Before she had time to ponder upon that question, Aquira set the beasts on her. Soycoss knew exactly what the beasts were and what they could do so, she didn't wait around-she ran in the direction she had come from. As she ran, she wasn't fleeing! She was just opening up a reasonable distance to allow herself a chance to react appropriately. Being a fast runner, Soycoss was able to get ahead by about fifty metres in a very short time. That was as much space as she needed to do her thing. She stopped running and sat down facing away from the Zatvig pack. With her eyes closed and her arms resting upon her knees, she began to meditate. The animals were relentless in their pursuit and it appeared they would rip her apart in a jiffy. Her ability was to control minds but did the beasts have any minds?!- That's exactly what she was counting on. The fastest of the animals were just about to sink their teeth into her shoulders when she opened her eyes. Her eyes glowed bright red as those of the beasts! The animals retreated and then turned on each other. As it turned out, the animals had the same effect on each other as they had on humans-they drained each other's life force until the whole pack vaporized completely. Soycoss' eyes turned back to normalcy. She stood up and began walking in the direction of the hall of holders. Aquira would have to let her pass or they would have that fight-a fair one this time.

Aquira was very surprised to see Soycoss strolling back. You could see it in her eyes that she wasn't an opponent she wished to face. She remained rooted to her spot and watched quietly as Soycoss approached.

"You don't seem happy to see me back..." Soycoss commented, "I'm glad to be back."

Aquira did not say a word. Soycoss moved several steps forward.

"The way I see it, you're going to let me pass or...we'll play this little game of yours and then I will pass after winning." Soycoss stated.

"I cannot let you pass." Aquira responded.

"I wouldn't call that an excellent choice but it's better than nothing!" Soycoss quipped. A very thin blade appeared in her right hand. She advance swiftly and took a slash at Aquira. Aquira stood still as the blade moved through her body as it would through air-she wasn't hurt at all! Soycoss retreated quickly.

"That's what I was afraid of!" She retorted. Aquira could not be hurt by any of the conventional weapons! The only way to fight her was through questions and answers.

"What did you hope to accomplish with your attack?" Aquira asked.

"I don't know...you tell me." Soycoss answered dismissively. As soon as she finished her response, she felt an invisible blade slashing at her belly. She started bleeding profusely and covered the injury with her left hand to limit the bleeding. Finally, she had understood how the game worked; the answers had to be correct. Due to the immense rate of bleeding, she could hardly stay on her feet so; she sat down on the ground.

"Do you regret your recent choices?" Aquira asked. Soycoss looked up at her...

"Yes, I do." She answered. Immediately, Aquira was dealt a small cut on her lower right arm.

"This is better than physical fighting, isn't it?!" Aquira jabbered as blood dripped down her hand. Soycoss remained quiet for a while thinking of an answer that wasn't wrong.

"No, it's neither better nor worse." She answered and Aquira received another cut on her left hand. It was almost as if she was intentionally asking obvious questions to get hurt! Soycoss had figured out the rules of the game and she didn't want to play much longer. The only way to forfeit the game was to win; to ask a question so simple that to fail it was to die. What was that question? Of course! What was the question!

"What is your name?" Soycoss asked. Aquira knew the answer to the question at one moment and then she wasn't sure. There were all sorts of voices whispering in her head. You're no one, you have no name-they said. You have a name, it is no one-the voices whispered. Everyone has a name...everyone but you! Do you think I'm lying? Okay, say it. Say your name. What is it?!

"I...my..." Aquira murmured, "It is...I don't have a name. I am no one."

She stood still like a statue. A product of someone's imagination and another's rage-that's what she was. This was the only moment that was her own, a result of her own course of action. Every nerve in her body ached so much she became numb. With the last reserve of energy she had, she screamed as hard as she could. Her voice echoed through the empty city. Never before had she felt so alive and yet she couldn't quite hold on much longer. Suddenly, her sight was shut off and she fell to the ground face first. Soycoss had won but she didn't have the energy to move on forward.

"I would have clapped," Sormesa's voice spoke from behind her, "But I'm not very impressed. And that would only serve to hurt my hands."

She knew at once; if Sormesa was there then Reyson was gone! In her current state, she wouldn't be able to put up a fight so, she would probably be next. Could evil ever triumph over good?! She thought not but over the past twelve hours, she had been proven wrong.

"You cannot win..."she murmured. "With each holder you kill, all the others become stronger..."

"And so do I!" Sormesa countered. "My intention was never to win...it's something much greater."

"If I have anything to say about it, you will not-" Soycoss began to vow as she stood up keeping her hand on her injured belly but Sormesa interrupted.

"Get away with it? I will not. I'm not going anywhere!" He uttered, "I will be around for a very long time...I don't think the same thing can be said for you."

Hey! I'm soon coming to the conclusion of the chapter (two thousand or so words left). After this, there will be two more chapters at least ten more parts. This is war so, characters will die. Thank you very much for your time, have a blessed day.
