Harry's POV

That first day at this new school wasn't too bad. On the bright side, there are a shitload of girls I can date and being "the new kid" has its advantages. I really haven't been too interested in any particular one. Some of these girls are really aggressive and it's quite the turn off.

I pick up the pace in the way to pre-calculus. I have to beat Sam to class. Ever since her "formality bullshit" statement, I've been her doorman into the math building. I hold the door for her, wave her in, and bow as she walks by. Her reaction is the same every day with a roll of her eyes and a shake of her head followed by a sigh. She tries not to smile but I can see the side of her mouth turn up as she pinches her lips together.

Sam's reaction always makes me laugh. No matter how my day is going, I can always bank on her reaction to make it better. It sounds stupid, I know. I can't explain it much more past that.

I pick up the pace to resume my place by the door.

"Hi, Harry."

I am blocked from my destination by Sabrina, a senior and head cheerleader. This is a prime example of an aggressive American girl. She is quite exhausting.

"Hi, Sabrina. What can I do for you?"

"You better sign my yearbook after school today. I have a lot to say in yours." She exclaims as she twirls her hair and bats her eyes.

I made the mistake of going on a date with Sabrina within the first couple weeks I was here. She is very pretty with a very toned body. She appeared interested and it seemed like a good idea at the time. We made out a couple times...and then started showing her jealous side. We weren't even exclusive! I slowly backed away from her but she keeps popping back up.

I glance over her shoulder only to see Sam passing by. Dammit!

"I will do it after school today. Sorry but I have to get to class." I confirm with her and move around her to get back on task.

Sam's POV

I reach for the door of the math building. It feels so weird opening the door for myself. Usually, there's a British smartass holding it for me. Where is Harry? I look around to find him walking around Sabrina and come this way.

He has turned into quite the hot commodity to the popular girls. They swoon all over him. I hear he's gone out with a couple here and there but nothing too serious. Which kind of surprises me. I half expected him to be a ladies man. Who knew?!

It quickly comes to me to turn the tables on Harry. I hold the door open completely mocking him when he does it for me. He stops for a second and over dramatically rolls his eyes and shakes his head. Wait! Was he just mimicking me? We laugh as walk into class.

We take our final in pre-calculus and have time to sign yearbooks. Harry tosses his at me and I return the favor with mine. What do I write? I don't want to sound ridiculous.

I thumb through the pages to find a blank space to write. My eyes fall onto an ocean of lengthy messages from over half the females at this school. This guy could have practically any girl at this school. I wonder why he hasn't settled down with one of them.

I attempt to regain my focus and begin to write...

"Have a great summer and practice your door holding skills. They could use a little work.

Sam"

Nothing too sappy. We really don't talk outside of class. We don't hang around the same crowds. We run into each other at parties from time to time but we really never had a chance to talk much outside of pre-calculus.

The bell rings as Harry hands me back my yearbook. The curiosity is killing me and I just have to read what he wrote...

"Sam,

Thank you for being my first friend here. I look forward to having more classes together next year. Although I'm not sure how it's done in your country but where I'm from, people usually say 'thank you' when a door is held open for them but I can only assume rolling your eyes and shaking your head must translate the same.

H"

I roll my eyes, shake my head, and giggle. I look at him as we collect our things.

"You're welcome." He sarcastically says to me as if my reaction was thanking him.

I do hope we have another class together next year. Harry's arrival has made math much more entertaining this year.
