Melanie woke up

Her head was spinning

She sat up and noticed she was laying in a sweet, comfortable bed

The sheets were silky

Soft against her skin

It wasn't her bed

"Morning, sleepyhead"

His voice was hoarce and mumbling

Melanie sat up and yawned

She noticed she was inside Tyler's room

He was playing something on his TV

Mario Kart

His eyes were focused on the screen and not on Melanie

She watched him playing for a while

"What happened?"

"You breathed in too much helium and knocked yourself out"

Melanie's eyes flickered

She now remembered her breakout and the pity party

"You hurt me"

Melanie gasped "I did!?"

"By saying you're just a piece of cake to me. Because it's a lie. You're the entire cake"

Melanie's heart jumped just like she did

She jumped up in Tyler's lap and hugged him around the neck

Tyler put away his controller and wrapped his arms around Melanie's waist

He kissed her lips passionately

"Wanna play outside?"

Melanie's breath was unsteady

"But how much is it?"

"Almost midnight"

"It's too late"

"Come on, it's your birthday"

Tyler grabbed her arm and dragged her to the playground

The winds were chilly

"Since when did you care about my birthday?"

"Since always"

They sat down on the swings

They were almost wet

As if the clouds had cried just like Melanie had

"I was in a fight with my parents. That's why I was late. A wolf have been following me for so long now. It was sitting in my room but my parents told me they couldn't see it. But it was right there. It made me angry, they're ignoring me."

He pulled out a present from his backpack

Melanie blushed as she opened it with the tiniest of thank yous

It was a teddy bear

Light brown and fluffy

A red bow around its neck

"It's my favorite one" Tyler explained "His name is Blurryface. He's named after the wolf"

The teddy bear was the prettiest gift Melanie had ever received from someone

"He cares and he will listen to what you think"
