A time ago

A young girl named Melanie

Lived in a big white house

It was silent

It was peaceful

It was always peaceful and silent but it made Melanie feel uneasy

Melanie knew her brother Edwin was with friends

She knew her Mommy was asleep in the master bedroom

But she didn't know where her Daddy was

Melanie was bored

Playing with her dolls in her too tidied room didn't excite her anymore

She wanted thrills and adventures

That's why she decided to walk outside

Going to the forest was her plan

She wanted to hear the birds tweet

She wanted to feel the wind breeze in her short and curly black hair

Melanie sighed and flatted out her baby pink dress; it had gone wrinkly

In the kitchen she ate the waffles Mommy had prepared for her earlier

Melanie found it strange that Mommy was sleeping in the afternoon

Melanie herself wasn't supposed to go to bed until eight

Though she was always awake until nine

Then she would usually get so exhaused she ran out like a lightbulb

Melanie had trouble sleeping

She was afraid of nightmares

They used to wake her up in the middle of the night

Once she dreamt about her very own teddy bear trying to take her life

Silly Melanie believed it was true

That teddy bear is hidden under her brother's bed

He would never check under his bed anyways

Melanie loves syrup, honey and rashberry jelly on her waffles

There was no vanilla ice cream standing on the table but that was okay

She licked her lips and went into the bathroom to wash her hands with soap

Melanie was careful with her hygiene

She got to see Mommy's lipstick

She thought that Mommy was asleep anyways and wouldn't notice

She applied some of the lipstick on her soft lips

It was not much at all, but it made her feel pretty

Too bad make-up wasn't making her pretty on the inside
