Shelby

I woke up with a sudden rush.

I breathed in and out rapidly.

I realized that it was only a dream. I hopped out of bed and did my usual morning routine.

When I was done, I walked downstairs to get myself a cup of coffee and some cereal.

I sat at the couch and swung my feet over the edge.

Just as I sat down, Max jumped over the couch to sit next to me.

"What's up?" He asked me, smiling with that smile that he has.

"Nothing-what's up with you?" I say, probably too fast.

"Nothing much.... Are you okay, Shelby?"

"Of course I'm okay! Why wouldn't I be?"

"Okay... You seem a bit jittery I guess. All well. What are we watching before work?"

"I-I was thinking about watching Full House. That s-sound good?"

"Shelby? Are you sure you're okay?"

"O-Of Course. Are YOU okay?" I laughed nervously.

Dangit.

"I'm fine." He put his hand up to my neck and forehead. "You have a slight fever. I'll get you some medicine." He got up to walk to the kitchen.

What the heck is wrong with me?

Do I like Max?

I shook the thought off when Max came back with some Advil, DayQuil, and a glass of water.

"Here. I brought you a glass of water because this medicine tastes bad."

"Thank you." I said. "Must be the weather. It's been muggy and cold out for a while."

"Shelby. It's May, and it's been it hasn't rained or been cold in weeks. What's going on?"

"I'm fine! Just let me take the medicine."

I downed the medicine and let the aftertaste take over.

BLEH

I froze. I have no idea why, but the memory of kissing Max came into mind.

You like him don't you?

You're in love.

The voices in my head mocked me.

"SHUT UP!"

I realized that I said it out loud.

"Not you." I looked at him. "Sorry."

"Who were you talking to?"

"No one. I was just thinking."

"And you yelled 'shut up' because...?"

"I don't know. Let's skip over this. We should get ready for work." I stood up and ran up the stairs.

"You're already dressed!" I heard Max yell as a shut my door.

Cory, Tim and Ross already went to work. They had a meeting with Adam and Red.

I opened the door to my porch and sat on a chair.

The thought of kissing Max came back to mind.

Now that I'm thinking about it, I never thought about kissing Max. It was kinda just a thing that happened. Too quickly, might I add.

I stared out at the view. I've never actually looked out here.

Sure, I've seen what's out here, but I haven't looked.

Like, there's a street, but there's people who walk on the sidewalk next to it. They walk and talk and laugh. Some kiss and hold hands.

I want that.

A lot.

I guess that I just realized that I want it now.

With Max.
