Bens POV

"What the hell are you doing here?" Sophie groweled. I've never seen her so pissed off before- It was kindof hot.

But mostly scary.

Her hands were balled up into fist and her face was red like a bull. It looked like she was trying to control her breathing but failing miserably.

Sophie's brother smiled tauntingly, "Well, I'm here to honor my mothers life."

She looked as if she was going to punch him, so I step in. I stood behind her and rubbed her arms up and down."Calm down babe," I whispered in her ear hoping it would calm her down a bit. She started to relax under my touch and leaned into me. I couldn't help but smile a bit. I mean, I could calm her down when she wanted to practically kill someone. Sue me for feeling happy, but it made me feel important to her...I really shouldn't really be thinking this right now... Bad time, really really bad time...I'll reflex on this later.

"Who's this huh?" He asked looking me up and down, glaring at me. Oh no, baaaaddd move bro.

Sophie body tightened again and she stomped away from me towards her brother. Take it back, UNDO, UNDO!!

Her brother looked scared for a slight second but tried to play it off cool. Didn't work.

Please take it back, all you have to say is 'ha jk'. Not that hard, Really.

Sophie jabbed her finger into his chest, about to go on a rant.

"Don't. You. Dare. Try and act like my big protective brother. You are nothing to me." Why didn't he take it back... "Ever since you keep getting too drunk out of your mind to have dinner with me and mom, you were just my brother, not my best friend anymore. But then when you had the audacity to leave for 11 fucking months you didn't mean anything to me anymore. You weren't my brother, we didn't share the same blood, the same DNA. Nothing! You left me all alone on the worst night of my life when I needed my big brother, when our mother- when your mother was dying. But I don't know who you are anymore. My brother is long gone, he vanished when you took that first sip of alcohol. You are nobody to me. So get the fuck out of here!" She was now crying.

The whole room was quiet, all looking at them two. My heart was breaking for her. I knew that her brother left them, but I never asked about the background story. She lost her big brother, he abandoned them.

I walked over to Sophie, gently grabbing her shoulder and pulled her a few steps away from her brother, who looked between a mixture of shocked and hurt. To be honest, he deserved it. What did he expect, for her to throw a fucking welcome back party?

Sophie turned around and buried her face in my chest, and I was quick to wrap my hands around her small body tightly and hold her close. I stroked her hair and whispered some consoling words to her, while glaring at her brother.

"I think you should go," I told him. He looked at me, opened his mouth to say something, but closed it and walked away.

"He abandoned me," She sniffed into my chest.

"I know baby, I know."

She looked up at me and I wiped away her tears, "You won't abandoned me, right?" I smiled at her, holding her face and kissed her forehead.

"Never."

_____________

It's been three days since the funeral. There's been no word from Sophie's brother yet, but I feel as if soon there will be.

Sophie's been staying at my place until her aunt comes from Canada. Technically her brother is now her legal guardian, but since there hasn't been anything heard from him the next option was her aunt.

I could tell that she was trying to stay cheery for my family, especially for Teddy, but when it was just me and her she would let go a bit and show that she was a bit broken inside, which I keep telling her is ok. I told her that she needed time to heal and let her feelings all out, or she would never feel any better.

We were currently cuddling on the coach watching 'Friends' because- well, cuz it's friend. No explanation needed.

She slightly laughed at Ross, Chandler, and Rachel trying to get a sofa up a narrow flight of stairs, and I couldn't help but feel a jolt of happiness. She hasn't laugh, well REALLY laughed since before her mothers death. Along the way she would give a polite "chuckle" but I could tell that they felt forced.

I looked at her and couldn't help but think how beautiful she was. The way her light brown hair fell loosely onto her shoulders, and her eyes- god, her eyes. They were amazing, bright and full of fire. She had a bit of dark circles under her eyes from the lack of sleep, but I didn't care. She really was beautiful.

She felt that I was staring at her- what, I couldn't help it- and turned to face me.

She scrunched her eye brows and looked at me confused, "Why are you staring at me like that?" she asked with a smile.

I looked at her before kissing her cheek, "your so beautiful, do you know that?" Instantly her face burned up and she looked away.

"Oh my god," she chuckled.

"I'm serious!" I turned her face back to face mine, "you're so beautiful Sophie's."

she smiled at me, "and you are very handsome." she said as she combed though my hair. I pulled her close and help her tight, tucking my head in the crook of her neck. I truly felt happy with her. Something that I had never experienced before. Every time I was with her, I couldn't stop smiling and my heart always went crazy. And every time I was away from her, I always wanted to be with her. She could brighten my day with just her presence, and I could just sit in silence with her for hours. I've never felt this way before-

but I think I'm falling in love with Sophie Evans.
