The alarm sounded with a annoying beep and I rolled over shoving the pillow onto my head, I groaned as it didn't stop and felt around for it on the bedside table.

My hand felt the button and I pushed down on it lightly and the beeping finally stopped. I rolled over on my back and cracked an eye open looking at the sun streaked ceiling. Little rays of sun shone through the gaps in the curtain, I yawned and smiled to myself I heard the familiar trotting of paws and soon enough Lola walked through the open door and ran at me jumping onto my bed and licking my face.

I giggled as her tongue tickled my face and I wiped away the slobber that her tongue had left.

"Lola!" I giggled and she stopped looking at me innocently, I laughed shaking my head and petted the top of her head as I stood up.

I glanced down at my leg as it ached as I put pressure onto it and pouted, I totally forgot about it. I huffed and limped over to my desk where the crutches rested.

I grabbed them and slid them under my arms, the bandage was still on and my leg was stiff. I scowled as I couldn't find anything to wear, my only pair of baggy jeans I had been stained with blood and cut off me.

I sighed as I walked over to my skirts and pulled out a high waist black plaid skirt, I grabbed my white singlet and a matching set of black underwear.

I made my way over to the bathroom and changed carefully trying not to fall over as I balanced on one foot.

Half an hour later I was dressed and had cleaned up my face wiping away left over make up and I started again.

I did it simply only applying a light mascara, eyeliner and lip gloss. I braided my dark hair to the side in a fish tail and smiled proudly to myself.

I noticed that I hadn't seen Tabby yet so I made my way into her room to see her still asleep with her alarm clock knocked on the floor.

I laughed shaking my head and jumped on her bed, well more like hopped with my good foot as I left the crutches on the floor.

"Go away," she grumbled sleepily rolling over and shoving the pillow on to her face.

I whistled and moments later Lola came running in jumping onto the bed and attacking Tabby's face with her tongue.

She groaned and sat up rubbing her eyes and looking at me. "What time is it?" She asked glancing at her fallen clock that just read 7:50.

"Time to get ready all we'll be late!" I said getting carefully off her bed and and picking up the crutches.

"Aw crap," she cursed getting off the bed and stretching.

"What happen to your alarm?" I asked glancing at the upside down clock that laid on the floor.

"I really didn't want to wake up," she smiled sheepishly.

"I had noticed that but you gotta drive me! Because you grounded my bike, and dad will kill me if I get another ticket," I smiled walking over to her clothes and pulling out some for her to wear as she went to have a shower.

I found pair of skinny jeans and black singlet with a lace pull over and laid it down on her bed.

I limped into the kitchen and made some toast and started eating once it had cooked. Topping Lola's food bowl I made my way back to my bedroom and searched for my black ray bans.

I found them hidden under some paper on my bed side table and put on my black converse as I slipped them onto the top of my head, with a bike I never really wore sunnies because I had a tinted visor which kept the sun out of my eyes.

"Did you take your antibiotics?" Tabby called as I heard her walk into her room.

"Not yet," I called back and picked up the pills that I had to take three times a day because some of the dirt had still been in the wound.

I sighed popping the pill into my mouth and swallowing it forcefully. I put the rest of the packet into my shoulder bag along with my phone and dorm keys.

"You ready?" Tabby asked from the door of my room and I nodded following her out with my crutches.

We locked the door behind us after we paletted Lola's golden fur goodbye.

The receptionist smiled at us and told me to get better soon as we walked to Tabby's ford.

I looked around the car park my mouth hanging open as I spotted my bike with a yellow cap on the back wheel. "You seriously put a cap on my tire!" I said to Tabby as she unlocked her car.

"Just precaution," she smiled innocently biting her bottom lip to hold in her giggles.

I huffed glaring daggers and she burst out laughing getting into the car. I rolled my eyes shaking my head and getting in carefully, passing my crutches to Tabby I slid into the seat. I slid the ray bans down and Tabby contained her laughter enough to start the car.

We arrived at school just as the bell went and I got out of the car as carefully as I got into it. Tabby passed me my crutches and I rested them under my arms.

The people walking past and into the school looked at me funny and some even asked if I was okay.

"Oh dear Jackie! What happen to you?" Ms Kay asked as me and Tabby walked into class late.

"I stacked my bike on Friday and grazed half my leg," I shrugged going and finding my seat at the back of the class room where I sat next to Tabby and Zac was only a table to the right from us with Kain sitting next to him.

"Kids and their motorbikes these days," Ms Kay mumbled shaking her head.

"Sup babe, twiny," Zac smirked and Tabby raised an eye brow at him giving him the 'what the actual fuck face,' she uses that face a lot come to think of it.

"Don't call me babe I'm not a famous pig," I snapped.

"And you lost the right to call me family years ago," Tabby hissed and the guys smirks grew wider.

"Told you I could piss them both off in a matter of minutes," Zac laughed and Kain handed him a twenty dollar bill.

"Idiots," I mumbled to myself trying to hide my smile and Tabby snickered while the boys frowned.

"Class, enough chit chat! Lets start the lesson," Ms called everyone's attention back to her.

**

I sighed cracking my neck as it had gone stiff through out the lesson. I let out a yawn and got up as the bell sounded ending the maths lesson.

I steadied myself with the crutches, sliding them under my arms I picked up my shoulder bag and swung it over making my way to the door.

"I gotta rush, I'm sorry I won't be able to walk you to class, stupid test," Tabby said apologetically.

"I'm not a little kid I'll be fine go and ace that test Tabitha!" I smiled cheekily using her full name as she stuck her tongue out and rushing off to her class.

I grabbed out the apple that I had put in my bag and took a bite out of it fiddling with my crutches so I could eat and walk at the same time.

I gave up after a while and ended up chucking my apple half eaten into the bin. I made my way to my physics class and passed a corridor, I felt my food rise up in my throat as I saw a very sexual display of a full on make out session with Jesse and a girl I guessed to be Liv? or something, I saw her chatting to Kate a lot actually.

I continued walking and my crutches tapped on the hard floor of the all most empty school halls.

"Jackie!" someone called from the corridor I had just passed that had the vomit display.

I walked back cocking my head to the side to see who called me, my eyes landed on Mrs Hoyt and a girl that looked to be my age with long black hair, emerald green eyes and a slight tan that was fading.

"What?" I asked raising an eye brow and I notice that ms just ignored the two making out.

"Could you show miss Lay around she's new," mrs snapped not very politely.

"I didn't hear a please," I smirked and she narrowed her eyes at me.

"Please," she said through clench teeth.

"Sure I would be happy to but next time you should lose the attitude," I smiled sweetly and the Lay girl walked up to me. She was very pretty I must admit, she smiled shyly at me and I noticed that Jesse and Lee? yeah I'm not sure who she is, watching us. Jesse with a scowl on his face directed at me and Lee with a smile hiding her laughs at Mrs face.

I walked away before Mrs could answer with the newbie behind me.

"So what's your name?" I asked her kindly.

"Chloe," she said shyly.

"Well I'm Jackie, what class do you have?" I asked.

"Physics with Mr Bentley," she said quietly.

"Goodie same," I smiled at her and headed in the science buildings direction.

"What happen to your leg?" She asked concerned.

"Stacked my bike and I have to stay off it for a week," I smiled sheepishly.

"Like a motorbike?" she asked.

"Yeah."

"My sister won't even let me near a motorbike," she frowned.

"Your sister?" I asked confused as she spoke about her like she was her mum.

"Yeah we just moved up here for her new job she's one of the new teachers next term," she smiled proudly.

"What about your parents?" I asked confused.

"They passed away in a crash three years ago," she said sadly.

"Oh I'm so sorry," I said.

"It's alright what about you? Why are you at a boarding school?" She asked.

"My dad got promoted from his job as a pilot, he used to be a co-pilot and came home every second night, but now he got promoted to being a pilot he stays at hotels and he said that I wasn't allowed to stay at home by myself," I smiled at her as she spoke less shyly.

"Why didn't you stay with your mum?" She asked.

"My mums a.... tramp, she put my dad through so much and cheated on him, when I finally got dad to see past her lies he left her and took me with him, I haven't seen her in four years and I hope I never see her again," I explained, wow not even ten minutes with this girl and I had basically told her everything.

We finally made it to the classroom ten minutes late because I had been purposely slow with my crutches. I'm not sure if Chloe had noticed or just didn't care.

"Hi Mr, sorry I'm late was just showing our new student here around," I smiled interrupting his mid sentence as I walked into the class.

"Let me guess you just had the over powering urge to do it now instead of after class," he said rolling his eyes.

"Precisely," I beamed at him.

"Lose the glasses Jackie and take a seat, you must be miss Lay," he said directing the last but at Chloe behind me.

"Yes," she said shyly.

"Well you can take a seat next to Jackie as she's the only one you've met so far," Mr Bentley smiled warmly at her.

"But I sit next to Jackie," Blake pouted from the back of the class.

"And now you sit next to Dan, move Mr Love," he said and Blake pouted even more grabbing up his books and moving to the front of the class where Dan sat.

"Take a seat girls," Mr Bentley instructed and I walked over to the now empty table with Chloe.

I sat down laying my crutches on the floor with a clatter as Penny smiled at me questionably from the seat in front of me.

"Tell you later," I smiled as she gestured to my leg.

"And Chloe I suggest you don't follow in miss Skye's foot prints, one crazy kid in my class is enough," Mr Bentley chuckled shaking his head in mine and Chloe's direction.

"Hey!" I protested as the class laughed at misters comment, "I am perfectly sane."

"Than how did you get your cast? let me guess so wild riding on your bike on the weekend?" he asked shaking his head.

"Wow physic," I said scrunching up my eye brows.

"Jackie the teachers are some of the biggest gossipers in the school," he said rolling his eyes and he started the lesson again.

**

"So what's your next class?" I asked Chloe as the bell rang for the next class and I shoved my stuff into my bag.

"Design, you?" She asked as she handed me my crutches and I stood up taking them from her.

"Thanks, and I got design too," I smiled and we made our way to the door.

"Jackie, I hope your leg gets better," Penny smiled as I walked outside of the class with Chloe next to me.

"Thanks Penny I'll probably see you at lunch," I smiled as she walked away with Kelly.

"Come on our teacher is the worst one to get," I smiled at her and walked down to the emptying corridor and to design.

By the time I got there the class had already started about five minutes ago and I reluctantly pushed open the doors to face the beast herself.

"Miss Skye how nice of you to join us," Mrs Hoyt said bitterly with a false smile.

"Sorry I was watching grass grow," I mumbled making my way to the seat that I notice Britty had stolen from me.

"Sorry Zac insisted and its either you sit next to him or Jesse," Britty smiled apologetically at me and Zac sent a smirk my way.

"Guys this is Chloe, can you look after her for me, I'll go sit in the other spare seat," I smiled at the girls and made Chloe take the seat.

"If you even try to make a move on Chloe here I will throw you through that window," I said leaning to Zac's ear and pointing to the open window.

I saw his Adam's apple bob and smiled in victory making my way over to the empty seat. Well we did say forget we even met so I didn't give a shit who the seat was next to.

"Hurry up Jackie," Mrs Hoyt snapped from the front of the class.

"Oh shut up," I grumbled at her chucking my bag on the desk and putting my crutches on the floor with a loud bang making the heads that hadn't turn to me yet, turn.

"Watch your mouth," she said glaring at me.

"Physically impossible," I pointed out and she refuse to answer, instead she went back to the roll.

I slid my sunglasses down and put in my head phones blasting the music and tuning out the world around me. I glanced at the person sitting next to me realising he hadn't even said anything and was completely ignoring me trying to focus on his phone where he played candy crush.

I glanced across to Tabby as I sent her a message, 'Tabitha!!;D' she glance at her phone from across the room and scolded me, I let out a chuckle and she sent back, 'the devils creation-_-' I chuckled earning a glare from Mrs Hoyt.

"Is something funny Jackie?" she snapped and I tucked my phone away so she couldn't see it.

"Nope," I smiled innocently.

She continued on with the lesson as I kept texting Tabby secretly, 'I'm soooo bored:(' I sent.

'What did you say to Zac he won't even talk to Chloe oh btw she's really nice:)' Tabby replied.

'That I'd throw him out the window:')'

'Your such a meany!xD but I would love to see you do that with your crutches'

"Hey I can so chuck him out the window," I called across the class room randomly at Tabby which the class room burst into laughs while Mrs glared at me for disturbing the class.

I saw Tabby face palm herself and sink into her seat embarrassed as Zac gulped and got up running out of the class.

"Mr Hux where are you going?" Mrs Hoyt asked as he swung open the door.

"I won't be back," he informed her and left.

"Totally not my fault!" I protested as Mrs Hoyt looked at me.

"Detention now!" she ordered and I got up grabbing my stuff.

I stood up smiling at Mrs and winced as I realised that I still had crutches, "crap," I cursed under my breath as I lost balance and my bad leg buckled under the weight.

I reached out to grab my chair but missed the edge of it so I went for the table, which I realised was also out of reach. I sucked in my breath ready for the impact that never came.

I opened my eye to peek and see who had caught me already knowing that it was the boy sitting next to me as tingles sent their way up my back where he had wrapped his arm around me for my support.

"So sorry," I apologised as one of the other kids handed me my crutches, I snuck a glance at his face as I steadied myself and realised that he had turned back to the game like nothing happened.

"Oh I see Jesse wants to join you as well considering he's been playing his phone for the whole lesson," Mrs Hoyt pointed out not caring about me falling at all.

"Technically I've been playing it since the last class," Jesse corrected not even looking at her. And they say girls are good at multitasking.

"Unfortunately principle Hannah is away so you will have to sit in with the new constable, Ms Frey," she said smiling happily to herself.

"Frey?" I questioned looking at Jesse who had for the first time glanced up from his game.

He looked panicked but I noticed he hid it with a smirk, "sure thing Beth."

"That's Mrs Hoyt to you," she snapped gritting her teeth.

"Well than that's Mr Frey to you," he said standing up and swing his bag over his shoulder while I stood there not entirely sure what to do.

"Just go, and take miss Skye with you," she growled and Jesse shrugged walking out the door while I silently sat down hoping she would forget about me. Oh how I was wrong.

"Hurry up," Jesse snapped as Zac walked back in smiling and took a seat.

"Don't get your knickers in a knot," I snapped back.

'We need to talk later,' Zac mouthed to me an I huffed getting up again and walking to the door.

I followed to him soundlessly as he walked to this 'constables' office. wait constable as police? Hopefully this won't go on my record, my dad did say that if I didn't get arrested this year than he'd get me my dream car.

We arrived at a glass door with a metal plate engraved with 'school constable,' 'officer Peter'.

He knocked on the door and waited a few moments before we heard a scuffling on the other side of the door and a lady wearing a blue uniform with ageing curled black locks and golden brown eyes emerged her eyes turning a brighter shade as they landed on Jesse and she wrapped her arms around him in a tight hug.

I leant against the wall beside the door feeling awkward for being in this situation. Is that his mum? Or like aunty?

"Mother let go," he grumbled and I notice a slight pink tint on his cheeks, his mother let go of him smiling sheepishly. Yep thats his mum.

"I told you that I had a surprise for you didn't I!" constable Frey chirped smiling happily and she hadn't seem to notice me, come to think of it I think they both forgot about me, ouch.

"Why are you here?" he asked puzzled but at the same time a little pissed.

"The old officer retired and I was sent as a replacement for him, but only some days of the week I'll be at school, I'm still the deputy," she quickly explained, and he rolled his eyes as she walked back in and he followed. Wait did she say deputy? Oh shit.

Really wishing I hadn't pissed off Mrs Hoyt now. I grabbed out my phone and texted Tabby realising that there was only twenty minutes of class left.

I weighed my chances on sneaking off but realised I would still have to pass the opened door and that could be risky. I looked to the right pouting as the constables office was the last one on the corridor.

Maybe I'll just wait...

"Oh I'm so sorry honey come in as well!" Ms Frey smiled poking her head out the door.

"Thanks," I said awkwardly and I looked inside the medium size room with dark brown furnishings and creamy walls. Jesse sat on one of the small couches back on his phone again.

"Oh dear what happen to your leg?" she questioned with a concerned tone.

"My bike slid across one of the back roads and it grazed all up my leg, so in in crutches for a week," I smiled politely at her.

"Ouch honey are you okay?" she asked sympathetically.

"Yeah I'm fine," I said happily.

"Oh honey I didn't catch your name either," she remembered.

"Jackie Skye," I smiled at her.

"Well I'm Anya Frey," she smiled brightly at me.

"Nice to meet you," I said awkwardly.

"So why had my darling son and lovely miss Skye come to see me?" she asked directing it at Jesse.

"Playing games all class and she was talking back to Mrs Hoyt," Jesse answered looking up from his phone and looking directly at Anya saying the word she instead of my name with distaste. Yep still cranky.

"Oh so is this like a detention?" constable Frey asked looking at me, I nodded my head leaning against the wall awkwardly.

"Why are you here than shouldn't you be in Hannah's office?" she asked confused.

"Principle Hannah's not here," Jesse informed her and went back to his game.

"What does Hannah usually get you to do?" She asked walking over to her desk and rummaging through some boxes.

"Nothing besides go through the filling cabinet," I shrugged.

"Hmm... well could I get you guys to help me empty these boxes?" she asked and I smiled at her walking over to pick up one of the boxes off the floor awkwardly with my crutches.

I sat down laying my crutches on the floor and sitting the box on my lap. I picked up the first thing that was wrapped in brown paper and noticed that Jesse and Anya had joined me with their own boxes.

I looked at the small photo frame that was of a younger Jesse holding a small newborn baby with a massive smile on his face. "Where do I put the pictures?" I asked flashing Anya the photo.

"Here that can go on my desk," Anya smiled taking the picture and sitting it on a small pile on the floor.

I smiled at her unwrapping the next thing that was a glass guardian angel, I set it in the same pile as the photo an pulled out the next thing that was an older photo of a younger Anya and my guess Jesse's dad as he had the same features as Jesse.

I put that down in the same pile and noticed Jesse glared at the photograph as I set it down, he noticed me looking at him and he scowled at me and turned back to his box.

I sorted through the rest of the contents mostly consisting of photographs and trinkets until the bell went for lunch and constable Frey dismissed us.

"Don't you dare tell anyone that that's my mother, as far as they know she's my aunty and that's all they need too," he hissed into my ear pushing my against the wall as she closed the door.

"Does it look like I seriously care if that's your mum," I shrugged rolling my eyes and pushing him away.

"Just don't fucking say anything," he snapped walking into the crowd of people rushing to the canteen.

I sighed hobbling in the direction of the table that I usually met Tabby and Britty at. Unfortunately I made it there to find it deserted and I guessed they went to buy lunch.

I sat down alone playing with a loose strand of hair from my braid and sighed, the talk with dad coming back to me. Couldn't she just leave me alone! I thought I made it clear that I never wanted to see her again for what she put dad through, I mean who does that?

I don't remember my mother always being such a slut, I remember when we used to have tea parties with my teddies, or just dress up as princesses and pretend dad was our servant.

What happened? I never asked her that and its to much of a touchy subject for dad.

Maybe when she comes it will be my chance. She better not still be a drug taking hoe, I hope Leah was right, I hope she's changed.

"Jackie!" Someone yelled from beside me snapping their fingers I front of my face pulling me from my thoughts.

"Huh?" I said glancing up to see the culprit, Zac.

"You gotta tell me what's wrong with Jesse, his been weird since the races," he explained trying to look bored.

"We're not friends anymore," I shrugged.

"Is that it?" He asked surprised.

"Yes we had a fight and I told him to forget he ever met me because he said he wished he didn't," I said frowning to myself as the words came out and my heart hurt.

"You told him to forget he ever knew you?" He asked shaking me madly.

"Yeah so?" I asked startled.

"That's like the worst thing to say to someone," he pointed out.

"Zac are you bipolar, one minute your trying to get me to like you, then your running out of the classroom and now you seem to care a lot about Jesse," I pointed out raising an eyebrow.

"Firstly I really needed to take a piss and I had been asking Mrs all lesson, when you said that I took it as my opportunity to go. Secondly you are really hot and from the moment I met you I wanted to fuck you. Lastly I care about Jesse because all he does now is makes out with all the sluts and barely hangs with me and the guys anymore," he said composing himself.

"Not my fault he wants to mouth rape every girl in the school," I shrugged and I saw Britty, Tabby and Chloe come out of the canteen.

"Well he's pissing me off," Zac grumbled.

"He'll get over it," I shrugged and the girls finally reached us.

"What's up bro, Skippy?" Tabby smiled cheekily at me.

"Nothing much Tabitha, Zachary was just about to leave," I smiled back at her and Zac got the hint leaving.

"Hey Chloe, Britty," I smiled at them.

"Hey," they smiled and sat down to start eating their lunch.

"So tell us about detention," the girls smirked up at me.

"Long story," I smiled sweetly.

"We've got all lunch," they pressed not letting it rest. I gave in and told them detail by detail, excluding the fact that the constable was his mum and the photos which seemed private.
