Kelsey's POV

I hear sounds. What is that? Why can't I see? What kind of sound is that? My eyes open, but I don't immediately realize. I can't really see well, so I subconsciously blink over and over again to see better. Where am I? I feel something on a part of my body. That's my hand. What's on my hand? Is that another hand? What? I slowly move my hand closer to where I feel my body is. I hear a voice. Is it in my head? No, it's slowly getting louder. It's a man's voice. Is that... is that Calum? Calum? Why? Weren't we fighting? Were we? I can't remember clearly. I try to speak but my throat hurts. All that comes out is a faint squeaking noise. I squeeze whatever is in my hand hard. I can't breathe properly. The voice comes back, but this time, it is even louder. I see a white blur running towards me. I close my eyes and rest my head again. What seemed like three days later, I opened my eyes again. This time, I can see more clearly. I see who I'm assuming is a nurse standing over me, fixing something above my head. I look down to check what had been touching my hand. It was, in fact, another hand. I squeeze it again and I hear the voice again. This time, it soothes me. A small smile cracks open on my face.

"She's awake again." his voice calmly speaks.

"Good." the nurse replies with a calm voice as well.

I try to speak again, but again, I fail. I use my free hand to point at my throat. My bed starts to move up so I'm sitting up straight. The nurse hands me a cup. I look inside and see water. I take a sip and swallow. It hurts. Bad. But I take another sip, knowing that it will help. I finish the glass and my throat feels a little better.

"Calum." I barely squeak out.

He doesn't hear me.

I squeeze his hand for a third time.

"Calum." I say, a little louder.

"Kelsey." he responds, moving his chair closer to me, not letting my hand go.

"Why?" I start my sentence, not being able to say more than one word at a time.

"Why what?" he asks.

"Why... are... you here?" I say in between breaths.

He looks taken aback.

"Why wouldn't I be?"

"Calum. We were fighting."

"You were fighting." he corrects me.

"It takes two."

"I don't care. We're not fighting anymore."

"Why were we fighting?"

"I don't want to remind you."

"Calum."

"You thought I called you... a.... skank...." his voice trails off.

Now I remember.

"But I didn't!" he corrects himself this time.

"Then why was I mad?"

"It was a misunderstanding, Kelsey. We figured it out. Trust me."

"I... I..." I can't think of anything in response. I just stutter.

"Kelsey, I love you. I wouldn't lie."

"I... I... I love you too."

And I trust him as well.
