"C'mon lets talk." I smiled warmly.
*Flashback*
It was the last lesson of the day, people were yawning, others were doodling and the rest were just plain sleeping. Geography.
Worksheets were being passed out, test results mixed in with our new homework assignment. "Do it and hand the questions in next lesson," Mr Pat said, his tone deep in obvious boredom. The man had a balding head and blank expression, it was a wonder that we all actually got acceptable grades. Just as the papers reached my desk the wonderful much awaited sound of the bell rang throughout the class. Bags were thrown over shoulders, sheets clutched tightly to chests, an overwhelming crush of teenagers all squished and scrambled to get out of the room.
I stood watching silently from the sidelines until a gap formed. Shuffling myself through the twenty or so bodies that had somehow stopped moving I pushed myself out, receiving some yelps of pain, hurt or the odd insult for butting through. Shrugging it off I stepped onto the densely populated corridor. Spinning around I saw Nika and Lewis standing in the corner towering over everyone. Blaming the Dutch blood, I tried to maneuverer through the gaggle of people.
Smiling at my awaiting entourage I waved slightly and watched with awe as people parted the way for them, due to their natural authority and the fact that Lewis was the most respected senior here. Gaping behind the most unlikely couple, people's heads all began to turn in either amazement, shock or pure hatred. It was no secret that he was the most lusted after guy out there. I linked hands with Nika as we walked over to our secluded bench near the downstairs English department. Being 'friends' or special friends with Lewis sure had its benefits, mostly being surrounded by his many extremely good-looking friends, especially Chris, who I had become close friends with. When we were together, conversation flowed, he was like the big brother fate never gave to me. But unfortunately today it was Brian rather than Chris who joined us. Brian, the seemingly academically challenged, virtually non-charismatic, built like an Adonis Brian. Soon enough we were stuck in close proximity our friends, who were now doing a lot more than just holding hands, leaving the two of us to wait by awkwardly.
"So." Brian began awkwardly, "what subject did ya just come from?"
"Geo." I said, not really wanting to speak with him. His presence almost always pissed me off. "You?" I imitated his voice, that was lacking in interest.
"Had a free. Did PE," he grunted back, i almost snorted at how I could have guessed his answer.
Realizing that this conversation was going nowhere we turned around to see the other two now in a very intense embrace. I faked a sneeze, then moments later I heard a muffled 'bless you' and a few untangled limbs later, the two emerged, no longer one giant body.
"Well, we," I motioned quickly at Nika then to myself, "have to go to the tuck shop and grab something to eat quickly, then we have extra class again." Grabbing a very infatuated-looking Nika, I suddenly felt a small tap on my shoulder. Rolling my eyes expecting Lewis to be there to ask if he could keep my friend with him whilst i got our snacks, I spun round to come face to face with Brian.
Wearing my signature I'm confused face, I glared up at him. He was quite literally a giant. Wordlessly handing me a small post-it note that had been folded in half, he turned so abruptly 180 degrees on his heels and walked away, leaving me weirded out by his sudden annoying appearance. Shrugging it off I walked over to where Nika stood, arms crossed and a curious look in her eye.
As we walked over to the lunch line people parted for us as we shuffled our feet closer to the guy at the counter ready for our order.
"On the house today girls," he smiled as we tried to pay for our stuff. Confused but not complaining we were just about to leave when we came face to face with 'the group'. They stood squarely in our way, a long spread out line of bitches. Three on either side of their queen. Their arrowhead formation would have intimidated me almost a year ago, but since my mistake with Cory, I had regained my confidence again.
