"So what do you want to know then?"

"Well on a lighter note. And just out of curiosity. How many boyfriends have you had?" He asked slyly with the unmistakable hint of interest underlining his tone.

"Well not many. Probably a few casual no commitments flings, but only one serious relationship." I answered unwavering. And smiled back. "Your turn, how many have you had?"

He looked me straight in the eyes and said "None." gasping and out of shock I began stammering confusedly. He looked at my bewildered state and chuckled. "I've never had a boyfriend." Rolling my eyes, I smacked his chest half heartedly, pleasantly surprised at his hard chest.

"Not funny Shea. In that case Mr Smartass, how many girlfriends have you had?"

"Not many. I could probably count them on one hand. Lets see.." he started muttering things like: Casey, Jane, Annie? No not Annie, Martha... no she wasn't serious. Emma, I think thats all. "So far I've had three serious girlfriends. And just like you, one or two flings here and there."

The sun had gone ages ago and yet we were still wrapped up in our little game of twenty questions. It was getting increasingly darker, and I was beginning to yawn, which unfortunately didn't go unnoticed.

"Hey, you look a little tired. Do you wanna go back?" He turned on his phone and checked the time. The pale glow shined on his face, intensifying his bold chiseled jaws, beautiful cheekbones and pursed lips, which screamed to be kissed.

"Fuck! Its almost ten. We've been down at the beach for..." I waited of his to do the mental calculations. "Almost eight hours. Bloody hell! From two till ten! Woah." he was just as shocked as I was.

"We should probably be getting back. I am actually quite exhausted." We stood up and tidied up the area then folded up the picnic blanket. Intertwining arms, with Shea holding the blanket and me with the basket, it looked like we were parents that had gone on a family picnic. Come to think of it, our children would be adorable!

Shocked with my train of thought, I concentrated on moving my two feet in succession to walk successfully. By the time I looked up, we had already completed the five minute walk up to my cottage, somewhere along the way he had managed to take away the 'burden' of the basket from me.

Being the gentleman he was, he walked me up to the large oak door. He looked me in the eyes and started leaning down. I cranned my neck up meeting him about halfway. Our lips brushed lightly againt eachother.

"Goodnight sweetheart" he rasped pulling away. It was a kiss without expectations. Small and sweet. He walked away looking back and the traces of a playful wink, then he was gone.

I opened the large door carefully,  hoping against all hope that it wouldn't creak and wake the whole household.  Creeping into the room I belly-flopped onto my large comfortable bed just like the previous night. There was the same feeling, contentment, completeness. Remembering that I was still in my swimming things I walked over to the shower and turned the tap, letting the warm water wash reality away.

I slipped into my pjs and walked over to the balcony door to close the curtains, when a loud slam came from the house opposite. Intrigued I walked onto the balcony letting the cool night air ripple over me and my damp newly washed hair. A figure appeared behind the window but It was too dark to see who, just a large muscular silhouette. He, I assumed walked onto the balcony too, standing at least ten meters away. In the moonlight, I could see his longish hair was wet and tousled, just like mine currently was, as he ran his fingers across it. Suddenly the door inside opened, flooding the room and adjoin balcony with light, revealing the figure to be none other than Shea. His head was currently turned to the door where another feminine figure stood, engulfed by the light.

"Damnnit Mia, can you go to bed? I'm about to hit the sack." I heard him muse.

"But I'm not tired," she drawled "where were you were this whole afternoon? You left me alone with auntie Charlie and uncle Darwin all day!" She whined.

"I was down at the beach with Nina," he said without hesitation, hearing lazy smile in his voice.

Nina 1 - Mia 0

The wind picked up as my nightgown and wet hair flickered in the breeze. I could immediately fee two pairs of eyes on me. Automatically I shrunk into the shadows.

"Who's there? Shea... Shea, make them stop!" She clung to him pathetically, but he brushed her off his arm.

"Gerroff Mia. Look nothings there, I'm sure we're just imagining something. Can you get out of my room now? I want to get some sleep." he rumbled.

Nina 2 - Mia 0

I bounded indoors myself, happy now. I ran into my room and finally closed the curtain. Jumping into my bed I smiled like I had never smiled before. Suddenly a text pinged up.

'Has no-one told you that spying is rude? ;-)

Sleep well beautiful.
