Quinn Residence - Chalfont St Giles, Buckinghamshire – 2015

Peggy's phone abruptly began to vibrate, cutting Reggie off from his story. He waved a hand to let her know that it was okay to take the call and she quickly rushed to the hallway, picking the phone up and being greeted by the dry tone of Yates.

"We've got a situation. I need you back in London - now."

Peggy couldn't believe this. Her first day off in whoever knows how long, and she gets called in to do something. She could only hope that it would be something worthwhile.

"We've got a bomb at Trafalgar Square, all available officers are being called in to contain the scene as best as possible, I want you there to start the investigation as soon as it's defused."

Well, that would do it. Not that she was a pessimist, but Peggy couldn't help but think if it was defused. London had been hit hard by the 7/7 bombings less than a decade ago, and although the city managed to come back from that, another attack would not inspire confidence in the public.

"I'll get there as soon as possible."

Yates hung up and Peggy went back into the living room where Charlie was now sat on the sofa, his cup of tea resting precariously on the arm. The TV had been turned on and the scene at Trafalgar Square was on all the news channels. The scary thing was, despite the police doing their best to control the crowds, there were still a number of civilians nearby.

"I'm terribly sorry Reggie, I have to go."

"It's okay dear, I understand. You've got to go save the world." He said with an emphatic laugh. "If you're still interested, I'd be happy to continue my story another day. Just let me know."

Peggy smiled and nodded as she genuinely was interested in hearing more about Reggie's days in Zero Company. She wasn't 100% sure, but she seemed to remember her grandfather serving in the air force during the Second World War, and he would have been much older than Reggie appeared to be now. Peggy apologised to Abigail who was just beginning to serve up lunch, still looking as impressive as she had when Peggy had first arrived before she rushed to her car.

Just as she began to pull out of the driveway, Charlie hopped into Peggy's car with a flask he put on the dashboard, most probably containing the remnants of the tea he had just been drinking.

"Figured you might like some company on the drive back to London." Charlie said with a sympathetic smile, aware that the next few hours were unlikely to be too easy on Peggy. She returned the smile and reversed out of the driveway.

"So what do you prefer; Marvel or DC?" Charlie enquired, with Peggy responding by turning the radio on and listening to the radio soap opera that filled the car.
