"Can you believe that he is really here?" Desiree asked me while I cradled Ollie in my arms. His small fragile body buried in the blankets the hospital provided for him.
All of our family and the boys had already made their way through to see our long awaited little boy. All of them clamoring over the baby that only wished to sleep and wrapped up tight in his blankets that brought him security.
"No I can't." I shook my head tracing my finger across his cheek admiring how rosy they were against the rest of his skin.
"He was a lot of work but it was worth every ache and pain seeing him here now." Desiree laid her head down turning on her side to get a better view of Ollie and I. Rocking in the chair to the side of her bed I felt her eyes on me and Ollie. Eyes heavy from the exhaustion I could see her eyes were fluttering in and out of sleep.
The sun seeped in through the window providing unwanted light to Desiree who was fading into a sleep from all the energy she had to exert a few hours before. Standing up with Ollie still sound asleep in my arms I fixed the blinds closing them so that the room brought a peaceful darkness for Desiree to sleep.
Ollie had only been born a few hours ago leading up to visitors adoring everything about him. Desiree and Ollie were both exhausted from the nights events of the high energy. Yawning from the sleepy atmosphere I dug my hand that wasn't supporting Ollie's head into my pocket and searched around for my phone. Dialing up Louis, I wanted to see if Gabby was up yet.
"Hey mate congrats on the little lad!" Louis immediately greeted upon answering.
"Thanks mate! How is Gabby doing?" I asked in a quieter time then normal, being conscious of the two sleeping.
"At the moment we are playing an intense game of Candy Land." I could hear Gabby giggling in the background while Louis warned her about not cheating.
"I wanna talk to daddy!" I heard Gabrielle jump in the background after Louis had answered her impending question of who he was taking to.
"Hold on Gabbs wants to chat." Louis informed handing the phone to Gabby who began chatting away, bringing a smile to my face hearing her Minnie Mouse sounding voice.
"Hey Bug!" Enthusiasm prominent in my voice.
"Where are you Daddy?" She asked my straight up waiting for me to tell her that I was coming home to her soon.
"I'm at the hospital with Mummy! Guess who I have with me?" I asked her wondering if she had remembered the conversation we had with her about the new baby.
"Who?" She sounded like she was beaming on the other line, wanting to know who I was talking about.
"Remember when Mummy and I told you about the baby in Mummy's tummy?" I dove into the conversation bringing it up lightly said nice Gabby had been somewhat unsure over the whole ordeal.
"Yeah." She answered simply waiting for me to give her more information.
"Mummy had the baby! You get to be his big sister now love!" I encouraged the idea of her being a big girl now to the baby.
"I'm a big girl?!" She jumped at the title I had given her that she was more then eager to accept.
"You are a big girl!" I confirmed hearing her excitement, telling Louis what I had just told her.
"When you coming home?" Her awaited question was asked when she realized I wasn't there for her.
"I'll be home soon bug, be good for uncle Louis, yeah?"
"Yeah."
"I wove you daddy!" She spoke into the phone.
"I love you too Bug!" I said my goodbyes to her before she handed the phone back to Louis.
"So when are you guys headed home?" Louis asked while Gabby took her turn at Candy Land.
"I'm going to see how Desiree feels when she wakes up. If she's feeling good enough we might be home by dinner time. I texted Niall and asked if he could take over with Gabby, I know you probably want a break." I assumed talking with Louis who sounded like he was sleep deprived while playing Gabby's choice of board game.
"I'm good, I'm on good terms with Gabby anyway. I'm slowly becoming her favorite uncle, I can't have Niall sweep in and take that from me now!" Louis persevered through his sleepy state to take Niall a run for his money with the favorite uncle title.
"Okay well if you change your mind just let me know. I know Gabby can sometimes be a handful with her separation anxiety." I told him what he already knew knowing Gabby for years now.
"As long as there aren't any storms, we will be fine."
"With your luck a storm will roll in within the hour." I laughed thinking about the senecio playing through my head. Gabrielle hated anything loud, storms, arguing, fireworks, anything with loud volumes.
"Yeah no kidding. Well your daughter is begging me to take my turn so just keep me updated on everything." Louis concluded while I heard Gabby shouting Louis' name in the background.
"Alright see ya mate." I click was head on the other side of de before the line went dead. Pulling my phone away from my ear I found my attention to be on Desiree.
Completely incoherent from all the action these last few hours have brought she was now finally in a relaxing state. Chestnut eyes hidden away behind her eyelids, I watched her chest move up and down evenly while she slept. Her ponytail still messy from the sweat and work, stands scattered over her face.
Changing my attention to the tiny infant in my arms I observed his small features. His lips resembling that of mine with a more heart shaped upper lip, his hair a deep dark brown like Desiree's. His nose taking after Desiree after taking long looks at his soft face that was expressionless in his sleep. His eye color was yet to be determined since the nurse had told us that all babies were born with deep blue eyes, that their true eye color would reveal itself in a few months.
I had come so far from where I once was and it brought me peace of mind. Every choice I had made lead me to where I am right now, rocking my brand new son next to my sleeping wife. Life couldn't be any better then what it was right now.
A/ So yes this book is at its end! I will be uploading an epilogue before it all ends so don't be too sad! Hesiree is cute and happy without all the crazy drama they have been through!
