Chapter 26 - Long Way Down
Cassandra
As I looked out of the window, I cannot help but reminisce the memories I had with Harry. It never fails to make me cry, how can I be feeling this way? How can it all turn around so quickly, is this the price that I have to pay for being a stubborn girl who is desperate in love, desperate for Harry.
He doesn't remember me anymore and I think it's better that way.
If he doesn't remember me, then he won't remember all the pain I caused him. He won't remember the time when he got shot because we escaped and police were looking for us. He won't remember that he got hit because he saved my life.
He won't remember any of me.
And, it's okay.
I'm okay.
"Cassie," I heard a knock on the door and told her to come in.
I knew it was Gwen, she was the best friend and the big sister that I never had. "Hey? You're staying in your room for a long time now," she speaks, sitting down beside me on the bed.
I was just looking down, "I know,"
"You need some air you know?" She says, gripping my cold hand. "Is this because of Harry again?"
That hit me, the tears fall down. I do not know why but every time I hear his name, the tears ran quickly down my face
"No," I lied, sniffling.
"Cassie, look at me," she said, making me snap my head up and look at her. My eyes are probably puffy, the dark circles under my eyes are clearly evident and my cheeks and nose are red from
"It's not your fault," she says, rubbing circles around the palm of my hand. "Things like this happen for a reason, whether you like it or not it doesn't matter. I mean, Cassie, what happened in the past must remain in the past," she continued and I was full on sobbing right now.
"Do you want to know what is important?"
I looked at her and nodded, wiping my tears even though it continuously falls. "What is important is what will be happening now,"
"You need to let go and move on Cassie, if Harry's happy, you're happy too right? Even though he's not part of your life anymore, you still can be the best of friends,"
I suddenly hugged her and she hugged back. "I know it hurts now but you'll be okay, all you have to do is fight and be stronger,"
"All you have to do is move on," she continues, whispering this words in my ear.
"But for now, you just have to cry it all out," I began sobbing again, this time I'm screaming and crying.
"There, there, let it all out," she continuously says.
This also happened when my mom died and now, it's happening again, because I lost someone I loved.
I lost Harry.
He's happy with Kathy now.
And I think I should be happy too....
~~~~~ 2 Years Later ~~~~~
As she walks down the aisle, I can't help but smile, she's finally getting married to the one she loves. I, on the other hand is her bridesmaid.
I'm so happy for her!
I don't know why, but every time I see someone getting married, it brings me to tears. Her wedding gown shows her curves and his tux is fitted perfectly. I am so happy for them.
The wedding rites continues and I smile watching them giving rings and reciting their vows. At the end, is the most special part.
"I pronounce you as husband and wife," the priest says and he smiles. He looks at Niall and nods.
"Mr. Horan, you may now kiss the bride," without second thoughts, Niall kisses Gwen passionately. I always knew before that they will eventually get married and they are meant for each other.
I looked at the side and saw Harry, he looked at me and smiled, I smiled back, nodding. Let's just say, it's all alright now. I have finally moved on but has not find the one.
It's best to wait and not rush things, as I walked out the cathedral, I felt a hand reaching my arm, I turned around only to see him.
Harry.
"Hey, uh, I haven't seen you in ages," he smiles, awkward as it seems.
I smiled at him, "I haven't seen you too,"
For a moment, we were just gazing at each other and I shake my head to let the awkwardness go away, "So, how are you and Kathy?"
His face changed into something that isn't clear, it's really different. "We broke up after a year,"
"What happened?" I asked suddenly curious, they were so happy together, they were in love and right now I'm really shock as to what has happened to them.
"Long story," he says, that is the cue that made me not speak any longer, to not ask anything further.
So, I changed the topic, "Are you coming to the hotel reception though?" I asked, walking down the stairs.
He chuckled, "Of course, I won't miss my best bud's wedding,"
"Right," I nodded, smiling. "Then I guess, I'll see you there," I say as I rode my car, starting th engine and leaving him hanging.
