CHAPTER 29: Folk Dance

After what feels like an eternity, natapos din ang lecture ni Mam Leila. With the invitation of the prince ay magkakasama silang pumunta sa lobby for breakfast. It’s just 10am and she hasn’t eaten anything yet. She basically ignored her meal na iniwan lang niya sa bedside table kanina.

That’s why the moment she saw the freshly squeezed orange juice na nasa breakfast table sa lobby ay naramdaman niya ang panunuyo ng lalamunan. Agad niyang kinuha ang isang baso at diretsong nilagok. It’s so refreshing. Somehow, it gives a temporary relief on her dreadful state. Tahimik lang siya habang patuloy sa usapan ang lahat habang kumakain.

The other four are simultaneously talking with the prince. They are all trying to get his attention. Gusto rin sana niya. But she just doesn’t have the energy at the moment. And besides, aaminin niya na kahit papano ay nakampante siya sa sinabi ni DJ kagabi na mahal pa rin siya nito… “I still love you like crazy”… Well, I still love you like crazy too, DJ… Hindi pa ba sapat na handa na niyang iwan ang matagal na niyang pinapangarap para lang dito?

Tiningnan niya si Lavinia… Kasalukuyan itong nakangiti sa prinsipe. Magtextmate kaya talaga sila? Is it really true? If it is, ano namang pinag-uusapan nila? Two-timer kaya si DJ? What the hell is she thinking? Hindi naman niya ito  boyfriend para matawag na two-timer…

Lavinia: So, Prince Daniel… as I was saying with the text I sent you last night… I easily could get lost in this huge palace. Sometimes, I don’t know which way to go…

Pasimpleng tumingin muna sa kanya si DJ bago nilingon ang bruhang si Lavinia.  Magkaharap lang sila sa mahabang breakfast table. Si Lavinia naman ay nasa tabi lang nito.

DJ: Uhm, I’m sorry I wasn’t able to reply about that last night… But if you’re not sure with your way around here, you could just easily call some househelp, you know…

Tumingin muli sa kanya ito. And for a second, she feels like he’s explaining to her… Pinapaliwanag ba nito na hindi ito nag-rereply sa mga texts ni Bruhang Lavinia? Hmmm…

Lavinia: But I wish it would be you to show me the way, you know…

Ugh! What a flirt! Somehow, she wishes na sana mawala na lang talaga ito sa palasyo… Well, that thought makes her smile a bit…

DJ: Something funny, Miss Chandria?

Huh? Miss Chandria?

Kathryn: Why? Am I laughing?

DJ: Yes, I can sense you’re laughing about something… Care to share?

Sumulyap siya kay Lavinia. Obviously, hindi ito masaya na nasa kanya na ang atensyon ng prinsipe.

Kathryn: You can sense I’m laughing? Do you have special powers to sense something, Mr. Ford?

Tumaas ang isang kilay nito. Mr. Ford? Why the hell did she say that? Isang pambabastos ‘yon sa prinsipe. It should always be Prince Daniel or Your Highness…

DJ: Special powers? No, I don’t have that. But I just know…

Makahulugan ang ngiti nito… A naughty smile obvious on that delectable lips of his… Umiwas muna siya ng tingin…

Kathryn: Yeah, maybe I was laughing… I'm laughing at you…

Biglang natahimik ang lahat. Oh my! She should not have said that…

DJ: Hmmm… You’re laughing at me, Miss Chandria?... I think that’s not polite… unless you’ll share why you find me funny…
