(Y/N) lay on her stomach in her bed, legs in the air, hair down and wild. (Insert band/artist/song) blasted in her headphones as she drew in her sketchbook. The beautifully detailed drawing she was to give to her best friend was slowly coming together when a small tap was heard from her bedroom window. Considering it was two stories up, (Y/N) merely ignored the insignificant sound. Another tap. The two noises were too loud, too clear, too out of sync, to be misplaced drops of rain from the steady drum of the storm outside. She warily moved to open her window. As she edged closer to it, she grabbed a bat she received from her friend Stiles that was placed against her dresser. Gripping the makeshift weapon tightly, she tore the window open and glanced outside. Left, nothing. Right, nothing. Down noth- wait, there was someone down there. The outline of the irrecognizable figure blended into the darkness of the night. Heart beating, (Y/N) said nothing and simply waited. The figure slowly lifted his head up until his features were illuminated by the dim moonlight shining between the clouds.

"Isaac?"

"Hey." The hood of his jacket fell off and a layer of rainwater on his face glistened in the light. She stood for a minute, stunned. Then she grabbed a jacket that was hung carelessly over a nearby chair and rushed downstairs to the front door. Quickly opening it, she was greeted by a soaking wet, deflated looking Isaac.

"Isaac, what're you doing here?" A bold crimson streak of blood on his cheek stood out against the other lifeless colors and caught (Y/N)'s eye, and she knew. Stepping out into the pelting drops of water, she hugged her friend tightly.

"You're soaking wet, here." She motioned him inside. As they trailed up the staircase, Isaac spoke.

"I'm- I'm really sorry for-"

"Don't worry about it." There was a moment of silence.

"I don't know what happened." His voice cracked and his body tensed. The pair walked into (Y/N)'s room and sat on the edge of her bed. "He asked about my grades, and I told him I was doing okay in most of my classes. But- but then I got to economy and well, I have a D in Coach's class. And at, at first he seemed alright and I-I thought maybe it was gonna be okay this time. But I was b-being stupid and irrational because I knew he was gonna.." He took in a shaky breath. "And he threw the.." His voice trailed off as he brought his hands to his face. There was however, nothing there but skin and a streak of drying blood, and (Y/N) knew why. She sat him down on her bed and handed him a towel.

"It's different now..isn't it? You don't have to be afraid anymore. He can't hurt you, not physically."

A solemn look fell upon Isaac's face. He looked down, liquid gathering in his pained blue eyes, "Its the other kind of pain that lasts."

(Y/N) took his hands in hers, and brought them up to her lips in a kind kiss. "I was saving this for later, but-" She then reached for her sketchbook and flipped to the page that contained the drawing she made for him. Isaac took the sketch from her hands and stared at it in awe. Running his hands down the page, his fingers mimicked the minuscule movements of the pencils strokes.

"I- I don't know what to say." Isaac looked his friend in the eye. For a moment, every memory of his abuse, every bit of sadness and hurt in him disappeared, and he smiled. It was something that wasn't seen often. Something that those around him were dying to see, and were surely blessed if they saw it. (Y/N) felt joy rippling through her soul and warming her insides at the sight of such happy grin. Isaac was her world, and as long as he was happy, she was too.

"Then don't say anything." She took his face in her hands and ran a thumb over his cheek. Then she brought her mouth to his, and enclosed the tiny space between them. The kiss became one more emblem of their love.
