Chapter 17

Jared's POV

"Where is he?" I mumbled to myself, looking out the window. I was imaptiently waiting for Damon to arrive. It had been at least 3 hours and I was even beginning to think he wasn't coming. Then I remembered that it was so like him to be late for things.

"Is he even going to show up?" Drew said imaptiently. I could tell he was as annoyed as I was.

"He will. You know him. He just does these kind of things."

"I guess so. Hey, before I forget, have you even told him about you and Taylor?"

I paused. Before all of this, it didn't even come to mind. "No. What's there to tell?"

"Come on. You two are like brothers. Even he would get mad at you for not telling him."

I'd never thought about it before. The more I thought about, the more I realised that it wasn't fair that Taylor had been making the effort for me to get to know her family, and I was hiding mine.

"I'll tell him when he gets here. If he gets here." I replied. Just then, a car blaring Limp Bizkit from its radio pulled up a little too close to the kerb.

"I guess he's here." Drew said laughing.

We both went outside to greet him. After two years, I had hardly recognized him. He was way taller than he was before.

"Sorry I'm late." he smiled

"Where you? We didn't even notice."

"Well, let's not waste time out here. From what I hear, we have a lot to talk about."

I laughed nervously, confused about what he could've been talking about.

Taylor's POV

It had been like a week since I'd seen Jared and I was beginning to think he wouldn't be interested anymore. I mean, I knew he wasn't that type of person but I couldn't help but feel that it was over. He hadn't called or anything.

"Taylor, stop worrying, You're freaking me out." Ashley sat on my bed.

"I can't, Ash. It must be-"

"For God's sake, Taylor. He still likes you. Maybe he was freaked out and is giving you some space."

"I don't know, Ash." I said, pacing back and forth.

"I do. See him. Today."

"What if he's busy?" I said, trying to come up with an excuse not to go.

"Oh please. Whatever he's doing can wait. You're going over there. Now." She pulled me by the arm and practically dragged me to the front door. "Go! For all you know, he'll be happy to see you."

I made my way to his house, hoping that Ashley was right.

Jared's POV

I heard the door bell ring and wondered who it could be. I wasn't  expecting anyone and I was sure it wasn't one of Damon's friends.

"I'll get that." I opened the front door and was surprised of who it was.

"Hi." Taylor gave me a small wave.

"Hi?" I said questioningly, wondering if she was upset at the fact that I hadn't called her or even attempted to see her.

"Why do you look so surprised?" She smiled.

"I wasn't exactly expecting any visitors."

"Aren't you gona invite me in?"

I nodded and opened the door wider for her to come in.

Then I rememebred who was in the living room.

Taylor's POV

I doubted that Jared was happy to see me. He acted different when he saw me at the door. He didn't kiss me or even hug me like he usually did.

I heard an unfamiliar voice in the living room. I could make out Drew's voice but that was it.

"Who's that?" I asked, indicating to the unfamiliar voice.

"A friend of mine. From a few years ago." he replied quickly. I could tell that there was something he wasn't telling me.

Just then, a tall, dark-haired boy came out of the living room. "Dude, you are totally missing out on all the f-" He paused when he noticed my presence. "Well, well, who's this?"

"She's my...erm-" he struggled to find the words.

"Girlfriend? Whoa. She is hot." He stared at me with his grey eyes. I didn't know whether to smile at his sort of compliment or to show my annoyance at Jared for not admitting that I was his girlfriend. Was he ashamed? Or was he not interested anymore? "Aw dude! How come you didn't tell me you had a girlfriend! Your sister had to do it. And she's a real improvment from that other girl. What was her name? Jenny? Joann? Anyway I-"

"Can you give us a sec? Jared asked him, but looking at me.

"Oh yeah sure," he turned to leave but stopped. "I didn't catch your name."

"Taylor." I shook his hand.

"Damon." He replied, smiling at me. I couldn't help but smile back and I wanted to get back at Jared.

"Yeah, okay. You can go now." Jared said to Damon harshly. They exchanged looks.

"Jeez. Rude, much?" I said to Jared when Damon finally left. I smiled to myself at the fact that I was making him jealous.

"Come with me, please." he took my hand in his and lead me upstairs to a place I had never been before, his room.

Jared's POV

"What's your problem?" She asked me

"My problem? What's yours? You're gettin awfully comfortable with him, aren't you?" I could hear my voice growing angrier.

"I'm not interested in him, I'm interested in you. Or at least I was."

"What are you talking about?"

"How can you not know? You didn't even tell your best friend who I was!" she yelled

I didn't mean to not admit to her being my girlfriend. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that. I was going to tell him but after what happened before, I was beginning to think you wouldn't want to," I paused. "Be with me anymore. I thought I should give you some space."

"Sorry I snapped at you. I was beginning to think you weren't interested in me." her big, brown eyes were sad. I noticed a tear rolling down her cheek. I hated seeing her like this.

I automatically went up to hold her. "Of course I am. I love you."

"What did you say?"

I didn't even notice those three words had come out. "Erm, nothing I-"

"What did you say?" she repeated, more firmly. It's not like I didn't mean it or that I was ashamed. Of course I mean it, I just didn't know how she would react to it.

I sighed. "I love you, Taylor."

She smiled at me. "I love you too."

At that moment, all I wanted to do was kiss her.

Taylor's POV

He kissed me passionatley. It wasn't too soft or too hard. It was perfect. I missed the times when we were like this and not always worrying about what people thought. Then again, that was all we ever worried about. I pulled away from the kiss. "What's wrong?" he asked, worriedly.

"Nothing," I smilled to reassure him. "Nothing at all."
