"Oh fuck..." Tears started spilling from my eyes and covered my mouth with my hand as bile rushed up, but didn't come out. It was a horribly uncomfortable feeling -- as if my body wanted me to suffer.

"Holy shit... holy shit, man!" Josh - who was now at my side - reached up and held his head in his hands. "No way, no no no, nope..." He began muttering incoherently to himself and shaking his head.

There was an odd-sounding screetch in the distance, but Josh went on as if he never heard it. But I couldn't just let it go -- I had heard a simillar noise before, out in the woods.

"Josh, we need to get out of here." I stepped towards him and went to grab his arm, but something jumped in between us. Something grabbed me by the waist and threw me -- I felt myself flying backwards until I hit the mineshaft wall. I cried out as I collapsed to the ground, holding onto my left side which was burning with pain. My eyes caught sight of crimson beginning to spill from the wound, and I cringed as the pain intensified. I gazed up at my attacker, not surprised when it turned out to be one of those creatures from earlier. It slowly stalked towards me, and I tried to stay as still as possible. When it was about two feet in front of me, I couldn't help but to fear the worse.

"He-Hey, ugly!" The creature quickly turned and set its sights on Josh, who was standing there with a pained yet determined expression on his face. The creature started walking towards him after letting out a deafening scream. I wasn't sure how long Josh could stay still, so with slow movements I grabbed the gun from my back pocket. I couldn't chance checking the clip, so I just aimed and fired. Lucky for us, it hit the creature's upper leg, causing it to collapse -- but only for a moment. Just when it was about to lunge at me, I shot it again. The bullet pierced its chest, sending to to the ground once again.

"Josh, run!" I don't know what it was, maybe he was more scared than I thought, but he suddenly took off. As much as I didnt want for him to leave me, I wanted more than anything for him to be safe -- to be alive.

When the creature got back up, I shot at it one last time, hitting it in the shoulder. This time when it fell, I took the time to push myself to my feet and limp away. It wasn't getting back up, but I knew better than to think it was dead.

"Josh?" My voice sounded a bit hoarse, mainly due to the pain shooting throughout my body. "Jo-"

I was suddenly pulled to the side; an arm wrapped around me firmly while a hand clasped over my mouth.

"Shh... One of- One of those things is over there." Josh's voice whispered into my ear, allowing me to relax a little. I gave a small nod, and he released his hand from my mouth. "Follow me."

His let go of me and began walking slowly, staying near the wall. I followed close behind him, my gaze traveled over to Jess'd body -- which I quickly regretted. One of those creatures was digging its claws into her body, pulling out god-knows-what and devouring it. I couldn't help but to let out a whimper, but my hand was covering my mouth which luckily muffled the noise. My sight blurred as more tears fell, and I tried my best to focus on Josh. Right as we found a trail that was dimly lit with light from the outside -- just as we became hopeful, something snapped under my shoe. My gaze darted to the creature, which was staring directly at us. It jumped up and hastilly walked towards us, but Josh did something unexpected. He suddenly ran off, away from the exit and deeper into the mines.

"Run!"

When the creature went after Josh, without thinking I fled towards the exit. I didn't think about Josh's safety, or what would happen if I left him -- I was being dreadfully selfish by only thinking about myself. When I stumbled out of the mines and collapsed into the snow, I held back a cry of pain and just laid there holding my side. I noticed that blood was still seeping from the wound, which made me realize just how light-headed and drowzy I was. I knew I needed to stay awake though, so I pushed myself to my feet. I took a few steps forwards, but then stopped and glanced over my shoulder at the mines. Josh was still in there, alone with those creatures and no way to defend himself. I had no clue what to do, being torn between two options.

Do I go back in the mines and try to help him?

Or...

Do I stay out here and wait for him?
