We didn't speak much after the kiss, but we didn't exactly ignore each other either. It was more of a respectful silence. As we treaded through the blustery storm, we kept stealing glances at each other. This happened for a while, until Josh suddenly laughed.

"What's so funny?" I inquired as I rubbed my hands together and blew my warm breath onto them.

"You." He smirked and walked ahead of me, leaving me curious and confused. I jogged to his side, where I grabbed his arm so that he couldn't walk ahead again. "You're interesting. Very interesting." He chuckled, a smirk evident on his features.

"...you're so weird." I grinned and nudged his side playfully, then let go of his arm and ran ahead. I wanted to do whatever I could to make this experience better for him; I wanted to put his mind at ease. "You gotta catch me, Washington!"

I could hear his rapid footsteps behind me, but paid to mind to them as I suddenly stopped. My gaze was set on what was in front of me -- I wasn't paying attention, that was until Josh suddenly collided with me and we tumbled to the snowy forrest floor.

"Josh..." I grunted and pushed myself onto my knees, then stood up. "Have these mines always been here?"

"Uh-huh." He stood up and brushed some of the snow off, then grinned. "We should go check it out."

"Are you sure? It could, uh, it could be dangerous..."

"You scared?" He laughed a little. "It's just a mine, Courtney! Don't tell me your afraid of tinsy-winsy spiders?"

"Wh-what?!" I took off ahead of him, heading into the mines. "No way!" As we walked further into the dark mine, it became silent between us.

"Courtney..." I turned to face him. "There's a spider on your shoulder."

"WHAT?!" I tried brushing it off in a panic, but Josh's loud laughter distracted me. It took a moment, but I understood why he was laughing. "...There's no spider, is there?"

"Nope! Oh man, the look on your face!" His laughter quieted down over time, but it did take a bit. Meanwhile, I was just standing there drowning in embarrassment. "I can't believe it-"

He was cut off by a loud scream that was coming from deeper within the mines.

"Was that-"

There was another scream, seemingly from the same person, but this time I had a horrible feeling in my gut. The scream sounded familliar, but I didn't want to believe it.

Mike said she was dead...

"Jessica!" Ignoring Josh's protests, I took off sprinting further into the shaft. I could hear Josh's footsteps behind me, but I zoned them out and listened for another scream. When none came, I felt my heart begin to ache.

What if I was too late? What if Jessica's actually dead now?

I stumbled upon an elevator platform, which had seemingly fallen from it's intended place as it was obviously broken. However, that wasn't what I focused on. There was a blood-trail, starting at the elevator and leading far off into the darkness.

"Please... Please be okay, Jess." I swallowed dryly and began to follow the blood, desperately wishing that it was just from an animal. In spite of my wishes, I came across something truely gruesome.

Jessica was shrewn out unnaturally on the ground, with blood pooling around her. Her jaw was torn off; the shredded muscles were clearly ripped off, rather than cleanly cut. Her eyes were wide open, showing the fear and excrutiating pain that she felt when she died. It was becoming too much to handle, but my eyes slowly drifted to her torso -- entrails were spilling out for all to see.
