I found Chris in the next room, seemingly waiting for me. The two of us kept quiet, that was until we came across something horrid. Pinned to a wall was Ashley, and beside her was Josh. I tried getting to them but there was a fence in my way, and the gate was electrically locked with no switch in sight.

"Wh-What's going on here?" I looked at Chris, then back to Ashley and Josh. For a brief moment Josh's gaze met mine, and he looked surprised to see me.

"Chris! Courtney! What's going on?" Ashley was struggling to get out of her bindings as she asked us, though we didn't have an accurate answer.

"I don't understand, how could this have happened?" I gripped the fence tightly, which caused my knuckles to turn white. Out of the corner of my eye I spotted something -- a lever of some sort.

"Chris?" Once I gained his attention, I pointed to the lever.

"What's this?" He asked rhetorically, eyeing the mechanism.

"Hello, and thank you all for joining me."

Chris and I both jumped when the deep, demonic voice suddenly spoke. I had no clue where it was coming from, since I didn't see anyone else in here with us.

"Holy shit!" Chris looked around, obviously spooked.

"Tonight, we're going to conduct a little experiment."

"What the hell?" Josh's eyes widened and he looked at Ashley, then over at us. Chris ran over to the fence gate and tried opening it, to no avail.

"A sort of test. Now, for this experiment we'll need the cooperation of our two test subjects... Joshua and Ashley."

"What the hell is going on?!"

"I don't know, I don't know, I don't know!"

"But, we're going to need one more brave participant to help decide..."

"Guys, just... just calm down, we'll get you out of there!" As panick started to rise within me, I ran around searching for a way to get to them, to somehow get the gate open.

"...which subject will live, and which will die."

At this point, Ashley was completely freaking out, which wasn't helping the situation any. But I couldn't blame her -- I'd be the same way if I was in her situation.

"Oh god... OH GOD, OH GOD OH GOD!"

"Please. Please, please. Everyone calm down. It's all very simple."

The cries of Josh and Ashley were almost drowning out the voice of the psycho... almost.

"Christopher, you will find a lever placed directly in front of you. All you have to do..." Chris stepped towards the lever. "...is choose, who you will save!"

The purring sound of a machine coming to life caught your attention; the saw on the track in front of Ashley and Josh was now spinning with tremendous speed.

"Dude... buddy..."

"You can't let me die!"

"J-just... just gimme a second. I-I cant, I-I cant think straight." Chris was holding his head in his hands, and his body was visably shaking.

"Chris, don't do it! We'll find another way!" I grabbed onto the fence gate and began to desperately tug on it again and again, trying to force it open. "Please!" Very simillar to Ashley, tears began to roll down my face. Past all of the shouts and cries of my two friends, I heard a single, terrifying voice.

"I see... You have chosen to save Ashley."

My head snapped in Chris' direction and I watched as he stepped away from the lever.

"I'm sorry, man, I'm sorry..."

"Chris! How could you? I thought we were FRIENDS! I thought we were FRIENDS!" Josh's yells and pleas struck my mind hard, and I felt the betrayal that he felt. Within a split second, I was throwing punch after punch at Chris, even though the strength behind each blow lessened and lessened.

"I can't believe you! You're killing him, Chris! YOU'RE KILLING JOSH!" I took out all of my anger and saddness on Chris, until I heard the agonizing scream. I looked over at the worse time possible -- the blade was digging into Josh's skin, blood was spraying everywhere, and his entrails began to pour out from within.

"Oh fuck, oh fuck..." I stumbled backwards, never taking my sight off of the mangled corpse of my crush. A few seconds passed, and I found myself keeling over and emptying the contents of my stomach. Not once, but twice. Once I was done, I wiped my mouth with my sleeve, then wiped in onto my pants as I stood.

"Don't look, Ash, don't look."
On the other side of the fence stood Chris, with a terrified Ashley in his arms. She had blood covering her whole left side -- Josh's blood.

Josh was dead.

Chris killed Josh.

"Courtney, we need to go." Chris was in the midst of leading Ashley out of the building, but I just stood still.

"You killed him."

"Courtney, don't. Not now. We need to get out of here. Now." Chris stopped for a moment to look back at me.

"You killed him, Chris! I cant -- I wont go with you!" I shook my head and backed up, putting more distance between us.

"Courtney! I don't need this shit right now, okay? Just come with us!"

"NO!" I grabbed the nearest item and threw it to the ground, expressing my extreme anger. "I hate... I hate you, Chris!" Before he could say anything I turned on my heel and ran. I was soon back outside; the snow was harder to run in, but I did it nonetheless. I needed to get away. Away from Chris, away from Josh's body.

The one person I looked up to, who I loved and trusted, he had killed his best friend. The moment he pulled that lever, not only did he betray Josh, but he betrayed me.
