Relaxation

"Is that-?" I quickened my pace as I spotted a familliar building off in the distance, and I felt hopeful for the first time in hours. I made my way up the flight of stairs that lead to the building -- the lodge.

Oddly enough, I was able to get inside with ease, as the front door wasn't locked. However, I found something familliar lying on the floor just as I walked in. It was another totem, only this one had different markings on the front. I knelt down to pick it up, and turned it over to look at the back. It was identical to the one from earlier, only this time the butterfly outline was the colour yellow.

An eerie room with dim lighting in the center. A hand holding a gun, aiming towards the left side of the room. A gunshot, someone yelling, then darkness.

Another vision?

I shook my head and put down the totem, letting out a sigh as I did so.

"No. No more weird stuff. I just want to relax -- to have a good time. Just a normal weekend, hanging out with my friends."

I trekked through the halls until I found myself in the main room, where we all had been mere hours ago. But now- now it was empty, void of any life other than mine.

I knew that Mike and Jess wouldn't be here, and that Chris and Ashley definately weren't here. Matt and Emily might have come back, but I wasn't sure. That only left Sam.

"Sam!" I kicked off my snow-soaked sneakers and began to scale the stairs, remembering that she had been in the bathroom. "Sam! Is anyone there?" It was quiet, but not in a good way. It was eerie; being all alone in such a big house, not knowing whether or not I was truely alone.

"Hello?" The bathroom turned out to be vacant, all except for Sam's phone and headphones sitting on the side of the still-filled tub.

"Huh?" I picked up her phone and tucked her headphones into my pocket. "If she just left it here, then she cant be too far!" A smile formed on my lips and I exited the room with a little more confidence. I went back downstairs and took a seat on the couch, deciding that I would just wait for her. If she was here, then she was bound to show up eventually!

"Hmm…" I stretched my arms up over my head, then let out a content sigh. I was finally able to relax, take a breather. Of course, after sitting in silence for twenty minutes I got pretty bored. Since I knew Sam's passcode, I unlocked her phone and played around with it. I made sure to steer clear of her messages, as they were none of my business. I did, however, look through her pictures. She had quite a bit -- some of her and I, her with Chris and Josh, a few group photos, etc. When I began to scroll through her older photos, I found some of us with Hannah and Beth.

"Wow… I remember that." I laughed a little when I came across a picture of Beth and I smearing cupcakes onto Hannah's cheeks -- it had been their birthday, and we just couldn't resist the oppertunity. There were several more pictures including Beth and Hannah, and I found myself tearing up at all the memories.

"Damnit…" I reached up and rubbed my teary eyes, a small smile on my face. "I miss you two so much."

After a small crying fit, I gently slapped my cheeks and shook my head.

"Alright, alright. Get a hold of yourself Courtney." I stood up from the couch and headed over to the fireplace, using it as a distraction. It was void of any flame, but that's not why I had come over. On the fireplace mantle there were several pictures, along with a few candles. Next to one of the candles was a small box of matches.

"How convenient." I opened the box, finding only one match inside. I took it out and struck it against the side of the box, causing a small fire to ignite. I used the fire to light two of the candles, which provided a dim light for the area. "That's better."

I was about to go back to the couch when suddenly something caught my eye. On the far sight of the mantle there was a heap of grey cloth, and upon further investigation I realized it was Josh's beanie. "I'm sure he wouldn't mind…" I placed the hat comfortably upon my head, smiling a little as it warmed me.

"Well, thank you Joshua..." I smiled sadly and went back over to the couch. I flopped down upon the piece of furniture, then sighed and looked up at the ceiling. "…A nap would be pretty nice."

And so, I allowed myself to fall asleep. Little did I know, a familliar pair of hazel eyes were watching me from afar.
