The gunshot echoed throughout the room, but I didn't feel any pain.

Was my death instant?

When I opened my eyes to see Chris and Ashley, I knew something was wrong. He had shot at me, but... Did it miss?

The fact that I was still alive slipped from my mind when suddenly a door slammed open in the distance, and at the same time the Psycho walked out from the shadows.

"Noo! No no no!! Get away!" Ashley was trying desperately to escape her restraints, sadly to no avail. Chris used the gun to shoot at the Psycho, but nothing happened. The gun went off, but no damage was inflicted.

"What the fuck?!" Chris tried to shoot again, but all we heard is the sound of an empty clip. For some reason, this made the Psycho chuckle.

"Oh Chris... Oh Chris, Chris, Chris, Chris." The Psycho shook his head, but I focused more on his voice. It was obviously being distorted, but I heard something -- something familliar. "Oh, you've heard of blanks before. I mean really?" The Psycho shook his head in disappointment as he circled the table, coming to stand a few feet in front of me. He was facing Ashley and Chris, but when he removed his mask I had an uneasy feeling as to who it was. I was confused, angry, relieved -- you name it.

"Josh! Yo-You're alive!?" Tears spilt from my eyes as happiness overwhelmed me. For some selfish reason, I didn't care at all about anything he had done. I only cared about him being here, safe and sound.

He glanced over his shoulder at me and flashed me a smile, but his attention was stolen when two figures rushed into the room. The two people were Mike and Sam -- Mike looked like hell, and Sam didn't look pleased in the slightest.

"Josh?!"

He started laughing and circling around the room, as if all of this was just some joke.

"Ohh, oh very good!"

Sam hurried over to Ashley and started untying her binds, glancing at her bruised eye a couple of times.

"Every one of you! Got my name!" He was still laughing; he seemed to be enjoying this quite a bit. As he laughed on, Mike untied Chris' binds, then made his way over to me.

"You alright?" He asked, making eye-contact with me briefly. I gave a small nod, still too in shock to say anything.

"And after all you've been through! Good! Good-good-good! I mean how does that feel?" Josh shook his head a little, a big bright smile upon his face. "Right? How does that feel? Do you enjoy being terrorized? Humiliated? I mean, panicked?"

At this point, Mike and Ashley were glaring at him -- though Mike looked as if he could kill. I stood up from the chair, my shoeless feet feeling the chill from the cement floor. I went to step forward, but Mike stepped in front of me in a seemingly protective manner.

"All those emotions that my sisters got to feel one year ago! Only guess what?" Josh's smile suddenly disappeared. "They didn't get to laugh it off! No! Nope! No no no! They're gone!"

"I don't know if you noticed this, Josh, but none of us are laughing!" Mike pointed out, annoyance evident in his tone.

I pushed by him, no longer wanting to just stand and watch. He tried keeping me by his side, but I ignored him completely as I slowly walked around the table to get to Josh.

"Oh come, come-come-come-come. Why the long faces? Come on!" Josh was trying to lighten the mood now, but nobody was buying it. As I stepped past Chris, our gazes met for a brief second.
"It's good to get the heart racing every now and then, right? And race they did. I mean every one of you, just pitter-pat, pitter-pat. I hope you appreciated my little phantasmigorical spectacle! I mean, no detail too small, no oppertunity missed!"

"Josh-" I tried getting his attention, but he just kept going with his explaination.

"It was such a delight to play the puppet master to all of your Pavlovian Panic! And all that gore? I mean, gore, there was gore galore! Fake bodies... I mean. God that shit was expensive! And no retakes! Nope, nope, nope! Only double takes!" He grinned and began shaking his head again, letting out a laugh. "Oh, you should've seen your faces! Hook line and sinker! For every little stinker!"

After a few more laughs, his gaze suddenly landed on me. His expression was serious, though his eyes held something else. It was something I had never seen before, and it was almost alluring. "And you, Courtney..."
