"Har har." Sam fake laughed and shoed him away, while I giggled a little. He definately knew how to lighten the situation.

"You two were really freaked out." He pointed out, teasing us.

Suddenly, an idea popped to mind.

"J-Josh..." My eyes widened as I looked past him, and I began to tremble. "Josh... oh god, there's... there's something behind you."

"What--?"

"Don't move..." Sam glanced over his shoulder, playing along. "Something's behind you."

"Yeah, right." He scoffed. I shook my head and took a small step back, as if getting ready to flee.

"No, seriously..."

"W-We gotta get out of here... Josh, Sam, please." I let out a whimper and looked Josh in the eyes, showing how scared I was. Buying the act, Josh turned around to look behind him -- making Sam and I grin.

"Gotcha!"

"Alright, alright, your point." He laughed and shook his head.

"Thirty -- love."

"Wait, where'd you get the first point?" Josh looked at Sam skeptically.

"It doesn't start at thirty?" She asked.

"No. Fifteen."

"Sam and I both got a point, which makes thirty!" I backed her up, saving her from looking like a fool.

"No fair." Josh shook his head.

We all looked off into the distance when we suddenly heard another noise -- this time Josh heard it too.

"So, you hear that too, right?" I stepped forward to investigate, but I didn't see anything. Josh walked past me, and I looked up at him.

"Josh?"

"--what?" He was focused solely on the noise, which wasn't stopping.

"The rhythm... it's like, weirdly regular." Sam stood at my side as we both watched Josh and listened to the sounds.

"Not... no." Josh tilted his head a little. "Nothing 'regular' about it..."

"Maybe we should," Sam grabbed my hand and stepped forward. "You know, check it out?"

"Why?" Josh glanced back at us briefly.

"I dunno, what if it's like, a pipe that's about to burst...or some problem with the furnace?" We walked close-behind Josh, slowly inching closer to the sound. I grabbed ahold of his arm, more for comfort reasons than anything.

"Unlikely." He glanced down at me, then looked back ahead.

"If it were me, I wouldn't want this plave to burn down on my watch."

"...yeah, right." My grip loosened from Josh's arm as he walked ahead of us, taking the lead. We all walked down the hall, though Josh suddenly stopped to look around. Sam and I went forward -- until a cloaked figure suddenly jumped out in front of us. Sam and I screamed and immeadiately ran the opposide direction, with Josh close behind us. Josh sped ahead of us, so I shoved a trash can onto its side to hopefully slow the persuer. We rounded the corner and began scaling the stairs, but I forgot about the broken step and fell face-first. Luckily, the stair only scraped my cheek. I was pulled to my feet by Josh, while Sam tried opening the door.

"Oh COME ON! Why are these doors locked!?" Sam was violently moving the doorknob around, trying to get it to turn.

"To keep out strangers!" Josh used one arm to keep me close, while his other arm was outstretched to shield Sam.

Standing before us was the cloaked figure, whose hood cast down a shadow over his face.

"Heeeyy..." He spoke, swaying his arms about.

"...what?" Sam, now less-panicked, turn to face the figure.

"Heeeyyy... heeyy!" The figure started chuckling.

"What the HELL?" Sam glared at the figure and scowled.

"Boom!" The person lowered his hood, revealing himself to be my brother, Chris. "You just got monked."

Josh, who wasn't so scared anymore, now started laughing. Sam looked pissed as hell, and me? I was on the verge of tears -- though despite my fright, I was a bit amused as well.

"Y-you asshole!" I shed my tears and reached up to wipe them away, though I couldn't stop the smile from creeping its way onto my face. Sure, I was mad, but it was actually kind of funny too.

"Nice." Josh chuckled and gestured towards Chris. "Nice one, that was good."

"What?!" Sam looked at Josh with a shocked expression. "Don't tell me you were a part of this!"

"No, no, but I wish I was."
Still angry, Sam looked back to Chris.

"Why wo...why would you do that?"

"There's all this cool old movie stuff down here, what... what, was I, was I NOT supposed to take advantage of this oppertunity?"

Chris and Sam went on bickering, while I tried to calm my rapidly beating heart.

"Hey, you okay?" Josh placed a hand on my shoulder and looked me in the eye, concern written on his facial-features.

"Ye-Yeah... just a little frightened, that's all." I forced a smile so I wouldn't worry him. His hand slipped down my arm, until it rested against my own hand. He intertwined our fingers, then squeezed my hand and smiled.

"Don't worry -- you're alright."
