She was doing this for a paycheck, but it still felt off, watching a high schooler for an insane amount of money. She'd gotten into his class no problem, no one even noticed her appearance, or that she wasn't even a real omega. She had blended seamlessly into the background.

"Hi, I'm Tangle," until today. She knew who everyone in this classroom was, and this leemer girl was close to Sonic as a friend, "You wanna join us for lunch?"

"... No..." The quiet girl returned to her meal at her desk.

"Oh, okay," Tangle's long tail dropped as she retreated to her group with Honey, Tikal, and a few other girls.

Soon enough, the blonde wolf was able to slip out of the classroom and watch over the blue hedgehog who was having lunch with a group. A group of alphas?! There was one beta, a boy named Ray, in the entire lunch group. Sonic was only showing affection to his two mates, but still. One omega surrounded himself with so many alphas that it was inappropriate.

After school, she followed him to a college campus where he picked up his younger brother Miles, and they returned home. From there, she watched their routine. Tails played for a while while Sonic did his homework at the dinner table. When Sonic finished, Tails did homework while Sonic cooked. They ate together, they took separate baths, then they played a few rounds of a video game before heading to bed.

It was the same every day except Thursdays. On Thursdays, Miles met with the school nurse Dr. Vanilla, and her daughter at the park while Sonic shopped for groceries and ordered from the chili dog stand outside the store. Then, weekends varied. Sometimes Sonic would stay home with Tails. Sometimes he'd go on a date with both his mates. Sometimes he and the group of friends he had lunch with at school would meet up at Amy's house and simply hang out.

It was boring. It was a paycheck, but it was tedious. Nothing was incriminating or scandalous aside from hanging around so many alphas at once. Even that lost its meaning as digging deeper revealed that Sonic had been friends with them all long before they presented. Just a group of childhood friends. Why was she watching him? What about this male omega made him so special to her client? Why throw down so many rings on someone who's clearly in a happy polycule?

"Do you want to eat lunch with me?" Tangle approached her desk again as the lunch bell rang, "Just me and you? I'd like to get to know you."

"..." She really was bored of watching that male omega all the time. "Sure..." she whispered.

Tangle smiled, turning around the chair behind her and sitting across the desk, "I never got your name, so I'm not sure what to call you."

"Whisper," she answered quietly.

"Why are we whispering?" Tangle whispered back, getting an amused but quiet laugh from the wolf girl.

"My name is Whisper," she corrected.

"Oh, I'm so sorry I didn't get that," Tangle flushed.

Ah, yes, the dangerous part of a mission like this. Such a cute omega trying to make a friend. Well, Tangle was friends with Sonic. If she got closer to Sonic while indulging a little, well, only she would know.

The mission was less boring after that. Tangle approached more often, excited but trying to be calmer around the whispering wolf she found herself drawn to. She'd learned quickly that Whisper didn't like being around too much excited energy, and was trying to find a good balance between the two to better talk with her new friend. A new friend whom she kept glancing at and waving at. A new friend who was very beautiful and made the omega keen just a tad.

Oh... well... That certainly wasn't what Tangle was expecting when she decided to get closer to Whisper. It wasn't unheard of, but usually, mating secondary gender pairs were betas, or the occasional alpha couple. But two omegas, Tangle had never heard of it before. That didn't matter, love was free, so they could make it work -No, we aren't even dating! What am I thinking?! Tangle gulped down her drink, trying to clear her head. It was just a crush, nothing more; it would fade.

"Tangle, you alright?" Whisper's gentle voice drew her attention.

"O-oh, yeah, I'm fine. Just thinking," She answered, "It's not important. How far are you on the book report?"

"I finished."

"Already?! No fair! I'm still two chapters away from the end, and it's so boring~"

"Better to finish early."

"Sonic, I need to talk to you!" Tangle came running down the hall and grabbed the hedgehog's wrist before dragging him into the empty classroom next door.

"Woah!" Sonic called out as he was dragged, "Tangle, what's going on?"

"You're the only omega in our class with dating experience. How did you confess your feelings? How did you get two boyfriends?"

"Uh... I um... I haven't actually confessed to them... yet..." Sonic's face went bright red. "Infinite asked me out first, but he hasn't confessed other than saying we're mates, so..."

"Chaos, I forgot your romance life is a mess," Tangle groaned, letting her head thud on the chalkboard.

"You want to confess to someone?" Sonic knelt down as Tangle groaned and let herself slide down onto the ground before rolling over to look up at her friend, "I didn't know you had a crush."

"Whisper..." Tangle answered, "She's... I don't know, she's just so smart and pretty. And nice. And in P.E. she's so elegant. Something just keeps drawing me to her."

"You two would be a cute couple," Sonic smiled, "I don't know her all too well, but she likes reading and is the quiet type. I think she might appreciate a letter. It'll let her open it in her own time when she's ready. Then you two can talk when she reaches back out to you."

"A letter! Sonic, you're a genius! Can I buy you lunch as thanks? Or wait, you're going to have lunch with your boyfriends~" Tangle teased.

"Actually, they're both busy today, so I was going to have lunch in the classroom. And don't think I won't start teasing you back when Whisper is your girlfriend," Sonic held out his hand, pulling Tangle off the ground to leave as the final warning bell for classes rang out.

"You really think she'll say yes?" Tangle fiddled with her flickering tail a bit.

"If she says so, she's missing out on someone great," Sonic gave her a gentle smile, reassuring the other omega whose anxious pheromones had emitted just a tad.

"Thanks, Sonic," Tangle calmed before scenting Sonic back a little in reassurance that she was fine. "So are you ever going to confess to your Alphas?"

"Uh... Maybe... We're still figuring stuff out so..."

"You can figure it out while being in love, though, can't you?" Tangle asked before Sonic could open the door.

"Oh... I guess I didn't think about that," Sonic flushed a bit, realizing he didn't have much of a reason to hide his feelings. They were already dating.

"Are you just not ready?" Tangle kept the door shut as the sound of students entering their classroom became louder.

"I'm not sure," Sonic looked down at his red shoes, "I think it's more complicated than that."

"Yeah, your polycule looks complicated. But you look happy."

"Yeah, I am."

Tangle could hardly focus in classes, her mind drafting versions of her letter to Whisper. It had to be perfect.

Sonic couldn't focus either, not because of a letter, no. He kept thinking about his two alphas. No, he couldn't confess yet. Not when he was only in love with one of them, not when he couldn't get his heart to balance between them. Not yet.
