It Started on Lazy Day

Part 15

PoV: Sonic

  Where am I? The hospital? I sat up and looked around. Tails was asleep on the visitor's bed.

"You're awake now. How are you feeling?" A doctor came in and took a seat on the chair beside me.

"A little groggy... Did something happen? I shouldn't be here," I remembered fainting, but normally I just woke up in bed.

"Your body has been rejecting the suppressants you were taking. You should have stopped taking such a high dose within the first week. I changed your prescription to a low dose. Your little brother filled me in. I had some blood drawn to be sure. You won't be able to hide as a beta, ever," he was holding the pin from my uniform, "Being a male omega, you're pheromones are an existence you cannot deny. You need to be responsible with your medications. Your pheromones are strong but your body cannot handle them being suppressed. You may notice some spotting and abdominal pain while you begin your new medication. You skipped your first heat so this one may be more intense-"

"Wait!" I snapped at the doctor, "You can't just say that. I can't be an omega, it's not-"

"I can. Look at the blood test results, you're an omega. You'll have to accept that. This is great for you. Male omegas are rare and hard to find. You're special and should be treating your body with care-"

"I'm not some delicate object! I don't want to be treated differently... I don't want to be helpless..."

"Being an omega doesn't make you helpless or fragile. It just means you need to be aware of you're pheromones around alphas," he placed a hand on my shoulder, "Now make your order for breakfast with the nurse. We will watch over you for a few hours after you eat, then we'll see about you going home."

"Sonic! You're awake!" Tails was awake now. He ran up and hugged me, "I'm so glad you're okay."

"It's your nature," the doctor left as those final words were spoken.

"Sonic?" Tails put his hand on my lap, "Can I sit with you?"

"Of course," I was about to move aside when he crawled into my lap instead, "Oh, uh... okay," I placed my hand on his back as Tails nuzzled into my chest, "I haven't held you this way since you were small."

"I miss when you'd hold me," His twin tails were gently wagging as I began to rub his back.

"Sonic..." Tails mumbled, "Can we pick up some more mint candies on the way home?"

"More? I just bought a box for you. What happened to it?" I relaxed while I could. I felt as if my life was going to become more stressful thanks to this.

"Blaze let me eat it all~" he yawned as fell back to sleep on me.

"Something tells me you ate more mint candy than food last night," I sighed as I watched the door for the nurse.

  I won't be able to hide my pheromones as easily now. What am I going to do?

"Sonic!" Amy hugged me as soon as I got home. She was waiting for me with everyone after Knuckes drove me home, "You scared us all to death. I'm so glad you're okay."

"Yeah... I'm okay now," I was immediately picked up and placed on my couch by Knuckles.

"You need to keep resting. You have the today and tomorrow off school. Don't push yourself," Knuckles ruffled my quills, completely undoing them.

"Knuckles, come on. I'll be fine," I pushed the wavy mess out of my face. Amy quickly started playing with my quills, "Amy, you're pulling it."

"Hold still for a second," She had tied half of it back, "There. Now it isn't in your face."
