It Started on Lazy Day

Part 37

PoV: Sonic

"Alright everyone, let's start our first cooking lesson for the stall meals," I was in charge of teaching the girls how to cook with the teacher's assistance. We had split into 2 groups. Half of us worked on designing the stall for the best space and efficiency. I was teaching the other half.

I had everyone start by making onigiri today. I showed them how to make the 3 flavors we offer: plum, spicy spam, and plain. Then, a certain jackal was spotted looking through the window, "Infinite," I opened the door for him, "Come to take a lesson?"

"Sonic," the teacher came up behind me, "You know we're an alpha-free class."

"No, let him join!" Tikkal spoke up all of a sudden, "Sonic trusts him, we want to meet his boyfriend."

"Yeah let him in!"

"We never had a guy in class until Sonic, I wouldn't mind looking at two."

"I'm sorry, it's like this all the time," I felt so embarrassed as I heard everyone say it's okay to let Infinite into the cooking class. But... Infinite looked like he couldn't even breathe. I grabbed his hand and I heard him flinch as he snapped out of what looked like paralyzing anxiety, "Excuse me," I shut the door as I stepped out and pulled him away from the door, "Infinite, are you okay? Can you breathe?"

He nodded and crouched down. I knelt with him. What do I do? How do I fix this? I pulled him in for a hug and rubbed his back, "You want some ice cream?"

"Huh?" He looked up at me.

"I'm sorry, I panicked. I just did what I do for Tails when he gets scared of thunder. Ice cream usually does the trick... so..." I started to let him go and he nuzzled into my chest.

"... thank you..." His voice was so quiet. He was just holding me. Slowly I felt his heart rate calm back down. I didn't think this would work, but at least he's calmer. "...Your scent is calming..."

My scent is soothing... is this how mates are supposed to be? Infinite was so close it felt like his scent was enveloping me, His scent reminds me of a bakery... I like it... a lot...

"If coming to the cooking class is too much, would private lessons at my place be okay?" I pushed his white dreadlocks out of his face.

"I'd like that," he sat up pressed his hand against my cheek, and his forehead against mine, "Thank you for always being kind. I promise to practice every night when you start teaching me."

"You can take breaks too. Don't work too hard," I didn't want to let him go yet.

"I won't. I promise," Infinite got up and left after kissing my hand. I felt red in the face as I touched the cheek he'd been holding. It was then I noticed the entire class had been watching from the door! 

"It's not like that!" I quickly got up and dusted myself off, "Crowds just make him nervous, okay? You guys were way too loud and freaked him out!"

"You're totally boyfriends!"

"Sonic please get back in the classroom, no one had paid attention for the last 10 minutes because of your love life. Infinite will not be joining our classes ever, understood?"

"...Yes..." I sighed as the other girls booed the teacher for enforcing the rules.

It took most of the remaining class time to get the topic off me and Infinite and back onto making the rice balls. Some of the girls picked up the recipe quicker than others. We gave half the leftovers to the other half of the class. I saved four of them hidden away in my bento box. Once school was out I found Infinite's car in the school parking lot and waited. He came by shortly after I arrived.
