seventy-five days with a dumb cop (I fell inlove with him)

Yeonjun paced back and forth in his house, stress radiating from every step as Kai and Soobin watched him, unfazed.

"You and Beomgyu got back together, so what's your problem now?" Kai asked, sounding bored as ever.

"Beomgyu's parents—" Yeonjun threw his hands up in exasperation, "they forbade me from seeing him... for a WEEK. Well, they didn't exactly tell me, but they told Beomgyu because they think I'm the reason he spent one night in jail! ONE NIGHT!" Yeonjun's voice was laced with frustration.

Soobin raised an eyebrow. "Damn, they don't like you just like your parents love Beomgyu, huh?" Kai elbowed him. "Soobin hyung !"

"Oh, sorry, darling."

Kai froze. He blinked. "Hyung. What."

Yeonjun interrupted them with a jump. They both flinch.

"We know you have a plan,"Yeonjun said, smirking.

"What are you thinking?"

Yeonjun's expression shifted into something wicked. "What if... I bring my parents, you guys, and the whole team to Beomgyu's house? We'll convince his parents that I can't survive a single day without him. Maybe... get our parents to meet and hash this out?"

"The team is really unnecessary," Soobin muttered, earning a grunt of agreement from Kai.

Yeonjun waved them off. "If they finally agree to our relationship, we'll celebrate! Soobin, where's your brain? Call the team, tell them to bring food, because I have a mission to complete!"

Kai stared at Soobin. "Are we really gonna follow him?"

Soobin sighed. "No. The other's are probably busy."

They did, in fact, call the cop team, who were promptly enlisted to bring food and join the party at Beomgyu's house.

Beomgyu's house was packed. The front yard was lined with folding chairs, the guests looking like a bizarre mix of family and drama extras. Officers in full uniform stood like bodyguards, adding an extra flair of ridiculousness to the scene. Soobin, ever the peacekeeper, held a basket of imported tea, while Kai waved a "LOVE WINS" sign like it was the Olympic torch. Yeonjun, hair perfectly styled, marched to the front, bouquet in hand, his parents trailing behind like backup dancers for the world's most chaotic love story.

Inside, Beomgyu's parents sat on the couch, glaring with the intensity of disappointed sitcom parents. Beomgyu stood in the center of the room, nervous as a telenovela prince in a dramatic standoff. Behind him, his gang—Taehyun, Sunoo, Heeseung, Sunghoon, Lia, and Yeji—whispered like they were preparing for a revolution.

The front door opened.

"Hi... I brought backup," Yeonjun announced, his smile as shaky as his confidence.

Beomgyu's mom squinted suspiciously. Beomgyu's dad crossed his arms, unimpressed.

"Hello! We're the Choi family, here to make peace, and... maybe grill some steaks?" Yeonjun's dad greeted cheerfully, completely unaware of the tense atmosphere.

Beomgyu's mom frowned. "You mean grill the man who made my son a criminal?"

"Oh, please," Yeonjun's mom interjected, her defensive mode already activated. "They both made each other criminals. Equal opportunity crime! And besides, they're in love!"

Yeonjun was sweating bullets, standing awkwardly beside his parents. "M-Mom..."

Soobin stepped forward, suddenly adopting a courtroom lawyer stance. "With all due respect, sir, ma'am, your son and our guy here have survived literal handcuffs, a 75-day relationship, emotional heartbreak, fake cheating scandals, and illegal pranks. If that's not love, I don't know what is."

Kai nodded solemnly beside him. "Also, they literally can't stop talking about each other. It's annoying."

Beomgyu's dad deadpanned. "HE'S TWENTY-EIGHT. MY SON IS EIGHTEEN."

Yeonjun rushed forward, eager to clear his name. "Yes, and I kinda lied about my age! That's on me. But everything I feel for Beomgyu is real. I didn't plan on falling for a chaotic, criminal baby angel—but here we are."

"You're too old! You're a cop! You cuffed our son in public!" Beomgyu's mom raged.

"AND I'D DO IT AGAIN, IF IT MEANT PROTECTING HIM FROM ANYONE WHO THINKS OUR LOVE ISN'T WORTH IT!" Yeonjun shouted, his voice dramatic enough to be heard in the next galaxy.

Beomgyu stood there, heart racing in his chest, watching the scene unfold. His gang behind him whispered excitedly.

The argument escalated. A plant was knocked over. Yeji started filming. Lia handed out popcorn. Sunoo was chanting, "KISS! KISS!"

And then—

Beomgyu walked up to Yeonjun, grabbed his jacket, pulled him down, and kissed him right there. In front of everyone.

The room gasped. There were screams. Somewhere in the back, Kai fainted.

Yeonjun stood frozen for a moment—then instinct kicked in. He wrapped his arms around Beomgyu's waist and deepened the kiss like it was the dramatic finale of their love story. When they finally pulled away, gasping for air

Beomgyu looked to his parents, breathless. "I love him. He makes me happy. He makes me me. And yeah, maybe he's 28, dramatic, and a menace... but he's my menace. And I trust him."

"That was the most romantic thing I've ever seen," Yeonjun's mom sniffled, wiping her eyes.

Beomgyu's dad sighed deeply, as if he'd aged ten years in one minute. "...Fine. But if he breaks your heart, I'm suing the entire police department."

"Yay! Love wins!" Yeonjun's dad wiped sweat from his forehead, relieved.

Sunghoon whispered to Taehyun, "Does this mean we can party now?"

"We're already setting up the speakers."

The backyard was a total chaotic paradise. Grills sizzled with steaks, music blasted, and lawn chairs were filled with a mix of exhausted adults and absolute criminals. The gang danced in the background while Soobin tried (and failed) to stop Kai from spiking the fruit punch. Yeonjun and Beomgyu, however, were lost in their own world, slow dancing under the fairy lights like they were at a makeshift wedding.

Beomgyu whispered against Yeonjun's chest, "You cried when my dad finally agreed."

"He looked so scary, babe," Yeonjun replied, his voice filled with fondness.

"You are scary. You're a cop."

Yeonjun winked. "Not to you."

Beomgyu snuggled closer, his head resting against Yeonjun's shoulder as their friends cheered and music filled the air. For the first time in what felt like forever, everything was right in their chaotic little world.
