It's been a few days since Beomgyu and Yeonjun's not-so-date at the park.
And guess where they are now?
At the park.
Again.
"Beomgyuuu, please come with me, I promise it won't be like the other day."
"No."
"Pleaseeee"
"Yeonjun—"
"Pweassee"
"Your treat?"
"Always mine"
Beomgyu sat stiffly on the bench, arms crossed, refusing to look at Yeonjun, who was beside him holding two bubble teas like a peace offering.
"Do you want the mint choco one or the matcha? I remember you said you hated both but I got them anyway just in case your taste changed in a week," Yeonjun said, trying to sound casual but clearly sweating bullets.
Beomgyu didn't answer. Just blinked slowly and looked ahead like he wasn't plotting Yeonjun's death (he was).
Yeonjun sighed dramatically. "Okay. You can hate me. That's fair. You can ignore me. Totally valid. But just..." he scooted closer, lowering his voice, "...don't un-love me, Beomgyu. Please."
Beomgyu flinched. His jaw tightened.
Yeonjun gulped, clearly losing the battle against his own emotions. "I know I was stupid. I thought I was protecting you, when really I was just hurting you more. But I swear, if I could go back—"
"Then why didn't you come to me and just talk?" Beomgyu snapped suddenly, eyes sharp and wet. "Why fake a breakup? Why that girl? Why make me feel like I wasn't enough?"
Yeonjun went silent. The kind of silence where even the wind seemed to pause in sympathy.
"I heard you," he whispered. "What you told Soobin. And I just... I panicked. I thought you'd never love me, so I made it easy for you to leave."
Beomgyu's lips parted slightly, stunned. "You heard that? I thought you only heard—"
Yeonjun nodded. "Every word. And it hurt like hell. But what hurt worse was staying away from you after."
Beomgyu looked away, guilt flashing across his face.
They sat in silence for a moment. Tension heavy but not unbearable.
Then Yeonjun slowly reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out... a crumpled origami heart.
"I was going to give this to you if you smiled today," he said sheepishly. "It's ugly, I know, but it's the 61st one I've made since we started."
Beomgyu glanced at it. "Why 61?"
"Because I knew I'd mess up somewhere before day 75," Yeonjun smiled, eyes glassy. "But I wanted you to have one for every day, even the ones where you hated me."
And Beomgyu, despite himself, snorted.
"You're so dumb."
Yeonjun lit up. "But like... the lovable kind of dumb?"
Beomgyu rolled his eyes and grabbed the strawberry bubble tea. "Shut up."
