Yeonjun was practically bouncing in his seat as he handed Beomgyu a big, whipped-cream-covered waffle and a pink drink with a heart straw.
"This is for my honor student baby," he beamed. "Top scorer again? You deserve the world."
Beomgyu rolled his eyes but the way he blushed said thank you, I'm weak for you. "Don't call me baby in public."
"You're right," Yeonjun nodded seriously. "My future husband."
Beomgyu choked on his drink.
Yeonjun leaned forward with dreamy eyes. "So like... when we get married after ten years or whatever, how many kids do you want?"
Beomgyu stared at him, blinking. "...What."
"I'm serious," Yeonjun said, grabbing a napkin and starting to sketch stick figures. "Like, I want a big chaotic family. Imagine—me, you, and like... eleven kids. And Toto. But he lives forever, obviously."
"ELEVEN—?!"
"Yeah! And they'll all be pretty. Like, stupidly pretty. With sparkly eyes and great fashion sense."
Beomgyu scowled. "I don't even want kids. I don't want to give birth."
"You won't get pregnant, dumbass. That's not how it works."
Beomgyu snapped, "Well, I still don't want to have sex with you!"
People at the next table turned.
Yeonjun gasped. "So what, you hate me now?"
"I just don't wanna do gross things with you! You always spill drinks on yourself, I don't trust you near my body!"
"I'M A DELICATE LOVER—"
"YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS."
"YOU'LL SEE ONE DAY—"
"NO I WON'T BECAUSE WE'RE NEVER HAVING SEX."
"THEN ELEVEN CHILDREN WILL NEVER KNOW LOVE!"
A waitress appeared like a ghost. "Sirs. We're gonna have to ask you to leave. Now."
They sat on the curb, sipping the last of their drinks in sulky silence.
"...I still think our babies would be really cute."
"...They would. If they existed. Which they won't. Ever."
A pause.
"...But like maybe one. One baby. If it has your dimples."
Yeonjun gasped so dramatically he almost fell off the curb. "YOU'RE IN LOVE WITH ME."
