He swore he'd rather study for the next quiz or wrestle Toto for his stolen cheesecake than attend a loud, crowded concert with his dumbass boyfriend. But here he was. Standing in the middle of a screaming crowd, lights flashing like crazy, Jennie Kim about to step out onto the stage.
And right next to him?
Yeonjun. Wearing a homemade shirt that said "JENNIE KIM'S HUSBAND" in sparkly letters. Sparkly. Letters.
Beomgyu sighed. "I can't believe you made me come here."
"You're welcome," Yeonjun beamed, handing him a blackpink lightstick. "You're literally so lucky to be dating me."
"I feel cursed."
But Beomgyu still took the lightstick.
Earlier that day, Yeonjun had shown up at his gate like a lost puppy with two tickets, a Jennie photocard between his fingers, and that stupid smile on his face.
"I got us seats close to the stage," Yeonjun had said proudly.
"And I said I don't want to go."
"You literally owe me for the eggs-and-rocks incident."
"That was your fault for letting us go."
"And now I'm cashing in the favor. Let's go, baby."
Beomgyu had groaned for a solid ten minutes, but in the end, he'd given in. Because deep down, he kind of liked it when Yeonjun begged. Just a little.
Now they were standing shoulder-to-shoulder as Jennie appeared on stage, the crowd erupting around them like a volcano of screams. Yeonjun shrieked like a banshee.
"Oh my god, she's so pretty," Yeonjun cried, fanning himself with Beomgyu's hand. "Beomgyu, I'm gonna faint."
"Please do."
"No but seriously. If I ever go missing, tell Jennie I loved her."
"Tell her yourself."
"I'm yours, but my soul is hers tonight."
Beomgyu rolled his eyes, but... his smile was threatening to break through. Jennie was stunning, her voice addictive, her energy insane. And he hated to admit it, but the music was good. Really good.
Especially with Yeonjun swaying next to him, rapping every word like it was a religious experience.
Halfway through the concert, Yeonjun turned to him and yelled over the noise, "Aren't you having fun?!"
"No!" Beomgyu shouted back, trying not to laugh.
"You liar! You're smiling!"
"It's the lighting! My face is stuck like this!"
Yeonjun laughed and grabbed his hand, swinging it between them like an excited kid. Beomgyu pretended to pull away, but didn't. He let their hands stay clasped, feeling warm even in the cool night air.
When the lights dimmed and the crowd started chanting for an encore, Beomgyu caught himself glancing at Yeonjun.
That dumb shirt. That stupid smile. The way he yelled Jennie's name like it was the only word he knew.
Beomgyu didn't want to say it out loud, but maybe... just maybe... this wasn't so bad.
And when Jennie started her final song—slow, emotional, beautiful—Yeonjun pulled Beomgyu a little closer, bumping shoulders.
"I'm glad you came," he said.
Beomgyu rolled his eyes. "You're lucky I'm hot and easily bribed."
Yeonjun just laughed, squeezing his hand. "Best concert ever."
Beomgyu didn't say anything.
But he didn't let go either.
