Beomgyu didn't expect to feel this nervous.
It wasn't even his first concert. He'd been to music shows, seen idols live, even fought for lightstick spots in a mosh pit. But this time was different.
Because this time Yeonjun was next to him—wearing an Aespa hoodie two sizes too small, face full of glitter stickers, and holding a lightstick in each hand.
Yes. Two.
"Why do you have two lightsticks?" Beomgyu asked, lips twitching.
Yeonjun beamed. "Backup. In case one breaks from me loving Karina too hard."
Beomgyu rolled his eyes. "You're ridiculous."
"And you invited me here, so who's more ridiculous now?" Yeonjun winked, then leaned in just slightly. "Thanks, though. I know it's not a date, but I'll still treasure it like it is."
Beomgyu made a choked noise and stared ahead.
The lights dimmed. The crowd screamed.
Yeonjun lost his mind in the first thirty seconds of "Drama." He was jumping, yelling fanchants perfectly, waving his lightsticks with the enthusiasm of a man possessed.
Beomgyu just watched him sometimes, too amused to even pretend to be annoyed.
"KWANGYA! KWANGYA!" Yeonjun shouted, missing a beat and accidentally smacking the guy next to him with his lightstick. "SORRY!" he yelled—then turned to Beomgyu, grinning.
"Have I told you how perfect Karina is?" he whispered dramatically.
"You've told me twelve times tonight." Beomgyu replied. "You're basically dating her in your head."
Yeonjun leaned in. "I'm actually dating you in my head. She's just my concert wife."
Beomgyu froze. His heart did a violent little stutter. "...Gross."
But he was smiling.
By the time "Spicy" started, Yeonjun had gotten too into it and accidentally grabbed Beomgyu's hand during the chorus.
He didn't let go.
Beomgyu didn't pull away.
After the concert, they sat in the car, parked outside Beomgyu's house. There was glitter on both their cheeks, and the faint bass of the last song still buzzing in Yeonjun's chest.
"That was the best night of my life," Yeonjun said softly, voice sincere now.
Beomgyu looked at him. "Even better than when you got your job back?"
"Way better," Yeonjun said. "Because I was with you."
Beomgyu turned away quickly. "You're such a sap."
Yeonjun grinned. "Sooo... next concert?"
Beomgyu didn't answer.
But the next morning, he sent Yeonjun a link to Le Sserafim tickets.
With a single text:
"Don't embarrass me this time."
Yeonjun replied with seventeen emojis, three typos, and one photo of him already in a Sakura shirt.
"I'm kidding. we're not going"
