seventy-five days with a dumb cop (I fell inlove with him)

It was supposed to be a calm day.

Yeonjun and his team—Soobin, Kai, Jeno, and a few others—were at a small farewell party for Officer Jung, who'd just been reassigned to Busan. There were snacks. There were laughs. There was karaoke.

Until the dispatch call came in.

Radio: "Uh—District 8 reporting a sudden riot in Moavill. Citizens panicking. Possible gang activity. Barricades. Fireworks. Eggs. Uhh... musical instruments? Over."

Yeonjun blinked. "...What the fu—"

Jeno looked up from the mic. "Guys. They said it's big. We need to go."

Farewell party: over.

They sped off in their patrol cars.

When they arrived, it was like walking into an apocalypse directed by theater kids.

Neighbors were yelling. Trash bins were on fire. Taehyun was dressed in all black, swinging a plastic bat like he was in a musical. Sunghoon wielded a traffic cone like a sword. Lia and Yeji screamed "FREE THE TWINKS!" through megaphones while glitter bombs exploded around them. Heeseung and Sunoo were on a rooftop tossing fake cash like confetti.

Yeonjun slammed the brakes. "It's Beomgyu's gang. Oh my god. Again?!"

The officers stormed out of the car, ready for damage control.

But this time... something was different.

There was a stage. A literal mini stage in the middle of the chaos, complete with a flickering spotlight. Behind a curtain made of bedsheets and LED fairy lights—stepped out Beomgyu.

Wearing his best outfit. Holding a microphone. That signature mischievous smile lighting up his whole face.

"Officer Choi Yeonjun! Kindly step up to the stage!" Beomgyu declared into the mic.

Yeonjun's breath caught. "Oh. My. God."

The crowd paused. Some still screamed. Others were just confused. Soobin and Kai stood frozen. Someone in the back yelled, "IS THIS A FLASH MOB?!"

Yeonjun walked up slowly, muttering, "If this ends with me getting pantsed I swear—"

Beomgyu took a deep breath. The mic squeaked. He clutched it nervously but didn't look away.

"I used to think love was dumb," he said. "That all this dramatic, cheesy crap was just TV nonsense. But then you showed up. Uninvited. In a police uniform. Returned my parrot. And I got stuck in a 75-day, lowkey forced relationship with you... for the sake of my bird."

Laughter broke out across the crowd. Beomgyu kept going.

"You brought me to concerts. Showed up when I was sick. With soup. A plushie. And this delusional dream about adopting eleven kids—one named Croissant."

Yeonjun groaned and covered his face. Kai was screaming. Soobin was full-on crying into a tissue.

Beomgyu smiled through it.

"We dated. fake-cheated on me. Came back to gain my trust. You courted me. Protected me. Believed in me when I couldn't even look in the mirror. And yeah, maybe that fake cheat shattered my heart—but hey, we're past that now."

The crowd chuckled. Someone clapped.

Then Beomgyu dropped to one knee, dramatically holding the mic like it was a bouquet of roses.

"So now I'm asking you, Choi Yeonjun... will you be my boyfriend? My idiot cop? My dramatic man? My partner in crime—literally?"

The street went silent.

Yeonjun's brain short-circuited. He stared down at Beomgyu—kneeling, eyes shining, lip trembling like he was about to cry.

And then Yeonjun collapsed backward like a Victorian maiden.

Flat on the ground.

"YES!!" he shouted from the concrete. "YES!! I'LL BE YOUR BOYFRIEND!! I'M IN LOVE WITH YOUUUU!!"

Kai shrieked, "SOMEONE CATCH HIM, HE'S GONNA PASS OUT FOR REAL—"

The crowd erupted. Glitter flew. Beomgyu rushed to help Yeonjun up and they hugged like the world was ending. Kisses were exchanged. Cheeks were squished. Foreheads pressed together like every K-drama ever.

Then—

Yeonjun sighed, reached into his belt, and pulled out handcuffs.

"Sorry babe," he said. "I love you. But you and your friends are under arrest for multiple public disturbances."

Beomgyu's eyes widened. "BABE?!"

Yeonjun kissed his cheek while cuffing him. "Romantic and lawful. I multitask."

The gang cheered while getting cuffed like it was prom. Taehyun flipped them off with a smile. Sunoo screamed, "DO IT FOR LOVE!" Heeseung filmed the whole thing for the group chat.

Yeonjun pulled Beomgyu close again, arms wrapped protectively around his shoulders, and whispered:

"You're the dumbest criminal I've ever fallen for."

"And you're the most dramatic — and maybe hottest cop I've ever loved."

They smiled against each other's foreheads as the sun set behind them—while the whole neighborhood clapped, even the ones who were still mad.
