"I baked it myself trying to learn to cook to impress you damn it!" Shadow flushed, realizing what he just yelled in a not-so-empty hallway.
"You made it?" Sonic took the slice out of the bag with his hand and took a bite, "Chaos, this is actually really good. Huh, didn't think you had any life skills."
"Tsk, it wasn't as difficult as cooking turned out to be." Shadow crossed his arms and shut his eyes, refusing to acknowledge the other omegas from Sonic's class watching.
"That makes sense. Usually, someone is good at either baking or cooking. Not many people develop both skills without a lot of practice," Sonic finished the slice and handed the container back to Shadow, "Here. I don't forgive you, but thanks for the cake."
"So long as you enjoyed it..." Shadow walks away in defeat as Sonic smiles at the Jackle coming down the hall.
"Iffy~ You coming over for another cooking lesson?" Sonic asked.
"Yes... The yakisoba recipe turned out well. The couple left, leaving Shadow behind.
The ebony hedgehog sulked in a much emptier hallway. He didn't forgive me...
— The Culture Festivals —
Sonic felt relief to know Tails' culture festival was the weekend after Sonic's. He was worried for a bit that he'd have to run between both of them. The stand was set up, and the rice was getting precooked in four different rice cookers. They needed rice for Onigiri and rice bowls, so they'd be going through a lot of it. The girls who made signs were checking their outfits and make-up. Each one was in either a dress or a skirt in colors that matched the painted stand. They had thick leggings underneath, of course. The school was going to be open to the public. Which was both exciting and nerve-wrecking. Soon enough, it was starting. The gates opened and everyone was getting ready to take their first order. It wound up being a busy day as soon as the stand had its first few customers. With how good the food was, word spread quickly. The school newspaper club even stopped by to interview the class and try the food themselves.
"Sonic! We're Instagram famous!" Tikkal shouted, "Look! There's a picture of you cooking in the back. You look so cool!"
The picture had Sonic while he was in the middle of tossing a pan over a high flame. It did look pretty cool.
"That's cool, but I wish they'd asked permission first, at least the newspaper club asked before taking pictures," Sonic went back to forming the next batch of Onigiri.
"Sonic~ Your boyfriend's here~" Honey called from the register.
"He's here to help with the rush after the play," Sonic called back, "I'm almost done. Give him an apron and send him back here."
"You two are seriously adorable," Tikal smiled, "Have you held hands yet?"
"A little," Sonic had a wry smile, "We don't share much about our relationship with others."
"Sonic, they said you wanted me back here?" Infinite was wearing an apron over his black shirt and dark jeans.
"Yeah. Scrub your hands and help make some onigiri. We need to prep more before the rush. It's our most popular item," Sonic ordered.
"Right. We have half an hour before the show ends," Infinite perked up as it was just the two of them prepping the onigiri. The other girls were taking their breaks or prepping the other food items.
The rush was even busier than Sonic estimated. He had skipped his break to help keep up. Who knew cooking for his friends all the time would end up with him basically managing a mini restaurant? Sonic was finally helping with the cleanup. They were almost completely out of ingredients and were going to close down the stand soon.
