It Started on Lazy Day

Part 38

"Should I have not brought those?" I looked at Sonic anxiously. He wasn't angry, instead, he had a fond smile on his face.

"It's fine. If anything you probably scored a few points with him for that," Sonic laughed and pointed to the sink. I quickly shed my blazer and washed my hands thoroughly as Sonic started pulling out more ingredients, "His favorite food is literally anything mint flavored. At least I don't have to worry about him not brushing his teeth. It's like an extra treat for him before bed and first thing in the morning. Alright, now most of the time I'd say it best to use a rice cooker, but just in case let's start by showing you how to cook rice on the stove."

"Right," I pulled out an empty notebook and pencil to write down everything Sonic taught me. He even wrote some tips besides recipes and notes I had made as we started to work.

PoV: Sonic

Cooking with Infinite was nice. It wasn't anything like the movies or Mangas I had read. He didn't smother my space, but instead watched my every move then replicated it to the best of his ability and eagerly took notes of what he was learning. He didn't flirt or try to distract me, but stayed focused and asked questions if he was confused. It was nice. He didn't even try to pull that one move where alphas came up behind an omega to pin them to the sink when we were washing up. He happily took wet dishes from my hand and dried them off with the towel he asked for to help me clean up.

He did laugh a little when I had to clean chocolate off Tails' face after he had finished off the small box of mints. Tails was still a bit of a messy eater when it was something he was excited about. Infinite had even helped us set the table to eat the simple dinner I had shown him. The whole time he was here, I felt calm and happy. It was fun, and then it was time to sit and eat... Tails had a determined look in his eye that made me a little nervous.

PoV: Tails

Sonic's boyfriend was taller than Shadow, and a jackal. But unlike Shadow who I will eventually get payback on, Infinite was nice. He even brought mints. I may have had the TV on, but I had a notebook hidden in my lap as I observed them. He was respectful of Sonic's space while they worked. Even if I caught him sniffing the air when we came in, he didn't let Sonic's scent all over the house distract him or influence him. Shadow and Amy both struggled with that and yet this guy who Sonic said was his mate was able to handle himself just fine. He even helped Sonic clean up, which even Amy didn't really do unless she used Sonic's kitchen. Finally, it was dinner time, and I could interrogate Infinite as much as I wanted.

"What do you like doing after school?" I asked, taking my first bite.

"I work a part-time job, at a grocery store near my place," he answered, I wasn't expecting him to have a job. At least he's responsible from what I can tell.

"Tails, be nice," Sonic wanted me as he continued to eat.

"I-I don't mind answering his questions," Infinite spoke up and then took his first bite, "Sonic this turned out delicious!"

"Told you, you wouldn't mess up the recipe. That's your cooking too, not just mine," Sonic smiled, and Infinite blushed.

He hadn't removed his face mask until now. He had long fangs and what looked like a scar on his right, blue, eye. He wasn't the first predatory mobian to cover their fangs, it was something I wondered if I'd need to do if I wound up being an alpha.

"Do you like Sonic?" I asked.

"Yes," he didn't sound nervous or shy like usual this time. It was a confident answer, no uncertainty at all behind it, "I like Sonic more than anything and I want to spend more time with him. And..." the anxious tone was back, "And I want to spend time getting to know you too, Miles. You're his little brother, I can't date Sonic without getting along with you too. I... I hope we can be friends in the future."
