"Does anyone in here even have cooking skills?"
"We should do an art exhibit," another student raised their hand. Both options were written on a whiteboard.
"Could we host a scavenger hunt?"
"I can cook, and I can teach everyone," I raised my hand, "I make lunch for myself and my brother every day. I can make some easy recipes and we can taste test them."
"That's wonderful Sonic," the teacher circled the food stall option, "Let's head to the kitchen next period, until then let's decide what we'll serve. And remember, the activity that raises the most money wins a trip to the hot springs and is exempt from Summer homework."
"Sonic teach me how to cook please!" The girls got excited as soon as the prize was announced.
"We need to win that trip!"
"I can't stand homework, I want a free summer!"
"Y-yeah, let's think of some easy foods everyone can learn in a day or two," I had gotten myself into a lot of work but being busy was better than running into Shadow.
--- Next Period ---
"This so good~" the girls squealed as they ate the samples I'd come up with.
"Who knew something as simple as onigiri could taste like heaven," they were all enjoying my food.
"Thanks," I felt so happy seeing them smile after each bite. Yeah, I want to see people happily eat our class cooking. "Now, we should vote on everyone's favorites and that will be the menu. I'm thinking we should have two snacks, two entrées, one dessert, and maybe two drinks."
"Yeah, I think we could handle that," the teacher had also been stuffing her face, "I vote the Onigiri be a snack. We can have several pre-made to move the lines along quicker."
At the end of the day our menu was made up of Onigiri, Egg Sandwiches, and rice bowls topped with either teriyaki chicken or curry. And for dessert, we'd provide mini crapés.
I took a small sample of everything with me before it was all eaten. Instead of homeroom, we'd have cooking classes so everyone would learn the recipes until the festival.
I escaped to the nurse's room for lunch since everyone wanted more recipes from me. Infinite was there when I walked in.
"Oh, you're here," I hadn't really thought about what to do with the food I brought with me since I already had my lunch.
"I am, you didn't message me so I thought you might come by. Now I'm realizing I could have texted you instead," he looked away for a moment before looking back, "What's that?"
"Oh, just some leftover samples of the foods I made for our culture festival activity," I set them down in front of him, "I already have my lunch so I wasn't sure what to do with these."
"Can I have them?" He wanted to grab the box, "I can't believe there are leftovers."
"Sure, you can have them," I pulled out my lunch box to eat, "Also, about this weekend... I'm free on Saturday... My bother has an overnight field trip so... We could go on that date."
"Really? I'm happy, I want to meet in front of this arcade around 11 am," he pulled the mask from under his face and took a bite without showing his face, "Sonic, this is amazing! Did you really make this?"
"Y-yeah..." I felt taken aback as he kept eating so quickly. There was nothing left in a matter of minutes. He complimented each item I made. It wasn't any different from what my classmates said, but for some reason, his felt more...
"Wow~ I wish I hadn't eaten that so fast," he was picking up each crumb and eating them.
"Was it really that good?" I couldn't recognize this feeling...
"Yes, truly," he fixed his mask, "I'd be happy to eat a meal from you one day."
"Can I ask you something?" I fiddled with my food, "Why do you wear a mask?"
"... My fangs can be kind of intimidating so I cover them to avoid scaring my classmates," he adjusted the mask again.
"You know, I thought you were just a creep before but, I think you might actually be kinda sweet," I set down a small portion of my lunch into the box he had wipes clean, "I'm kind full from the taste testing so..."
"Really? But it's your lunch, are you sure?" He asked.
"Yeah, it's fine," he ate it much slower this time. I could see his tail wagging beside him as he ate. He looks so happy eating my cooking...
"Infinite, I'm really excited for our date," I hadn't even realized I said that. I covered my mouth as soon as I heard it. I was so distracted by his appreciation for my cooking that I had let my guard down.
"Me too," though I couldn't see it well, I could tell he was smiling.
Is this what meeting your mate is supposed to be like? I like this so much more.

I forgot to mention Sonic's grade and age in this book.
While in the alpha class, he was a Junior (11th grade) and only had Senior year left to graduate.
Now that he's been transferred to the omega class, he's still in 11th grade however the omega class gets an additional year of learning to cover missed areas from heat cycles.
So he's still technically an 11th grader, but now he has 2 years till graduation instead of one.
Also, he's 17.
