Lachie was currently interstate for his upcoming match, leaving me behind back home in Melbourne. I always missed him so much when he left, even if it was just for a day or two. It was currently 7:30PM, and Lachie's game had just finished. Suddenly, I felt a very sharp pain. This pain had been bothering me for quite some time, but it just kept getting worse. I searched up what I should do and knew what I had to do.
I pulled open the bathroom draw and hoped to find one from when my friend, Kalista, came over and brung a few. My gut felt all twisted inside when I saw what I now held in my hand. A pregnancy test.
A few minutes later I found out the results, and it was... POSITIVE?! Oh my god. Tears escaped my eyes and I didn't know what to do. What was I gonna tell Lachie? He just comes back from his game and I tell him I'm pregnant!?
Later on, Lachie had FaceTimed me. "Hi beautiful." He smiled through the phone. "Hey." I forced a smile. "Did you watch the game?" He asked. "I watched a bit then fell asleep." I lied. "Oh, alright. What are you up to?" He questioned. "Nothing much, I was just watching some show I found." I lied, again.
"Are you ok?" He asked. "Yeah, of course I am, what makes you say that?" My heart was now pounding. "Nah, just asking. Your eyes are a bit puffy." He suspiciously pointed out.
The next day after Lachie returned from his interstate game, I couldn't keep the news to myself any longer. As he walked through the door, his face tired but content from his journey, I knew it was time to share the life-altering news.
"Lachie, can we talk?" I said, my voice trembling with nervousness.
"Sure, what's up?" he replied, setting down his bag and giving me his full attention.
Taking a deep breath, I mustered up the courage to speak the words that had been weighing heavily on my heart. "I have something important to tell you," I began, feeling a rush of emotions coursing through me.
His brows furrowed with concern as he noticed the seriousness in my tone. "What is it? Is everything okay?" he asked, moving closer to me.
I reached out to take his hand, drawing strength from his reassuring presence. "I took a pregnancy test yesterday," I confessed, my voice barely above a whisper.
A moment of stunned silence followed as Lachie processed my words, his eyes widening with surprise. Then, a slow smile spread across his face, and he pulled me into a tight embrace. "You're pregnant?" he exclaimed, his voice filled with overwhelming joy.
Tears of relief and happiness welled up in my eyes as I nodded, feeling a wave of emotion wash over me. "We're going to have a baby," I whispered, my heart overflowing with love for the man standing before me.
In that moment, as we held each other close, I knew that our lives were about to change in the most beautiful way possible. And as we shared in the joy of this incredible news, I felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the love and support that surrounded us. Together, we would embark on this new journey, hand in hand, ready to embrace whatever the future held for our growing family.
