I've never given advice before.

I've never been in that situation

So whatever happens from this point forward will be because of me.

"Before you get me the Stay Alive seq..........."

"Too late! Just got it for you." He hands me the new game. My hands gentle caressing it like a mother to it's newborn off spring.

My mind struggles to get back on topic, the urge to play pumps through me like a dose of adrenaline.

"Lycan? Lycan!?" He urges before I snap out of it.

"Huh?"

"Now it's time for your end of the bargain."

"Right, right. Just know that there's a chance that my advice could backfire tremendously."

"I'm willing to take that risk."

As I begin talking Samuel unveils a book which he uses to take notes.

He writes faster than the words coming from my mouth.

"Ok, first thing she likes black, from clothes to stationary, etc. She's also into reading and drawing."

"What about music?"

"Rock, hard rock and heavy metal. Like the Steel Stakes band."

"Got it."

"Another thing, you're gonna wanna change some stuff about you?"

"Why?"

"Well she doesn't seem like the girl to be into guys like you and me."

"What should I do?"

"Well maybe try changing up your appearance, like getting contacts instead of glasses and maybe trying different clothes."

"That it?"

"Well...... You're kinda need to act differently too."

"That too?"

"Try acting cool. Like cooler than you actually are. More confident."

"Shouldn't I just be myself?"

" Yes but no. Like they always say, fake it till you make it."

"Thanks for the help."

"One last thing."

He freezes in place as he waits, his hand gripped with his pen on his pad.

"Do not, I repeat. DO NOT let Willow know I told you this."

He then snaps the notepad close. "Don't worry."

And just as he leaves I begin worrying.

Tomorrow Willow's going to bombard me with questions, then once she drains all the answers from me she'll peel the flesh from my bones.

Can't wait.

During lunch I stand by the balcony, watching over the quad.

He's taken my advice.

I see him walking towards Willow with his new outfit and gelled back hair.

I read their lips, anticipating the result of this encounter.

"Hello there Willow. I'm Samuel Quin."

Willow remains quiet, pretending his not there.

"I heard you're into rock music and........."

"From who?" She snaps back. Her full attention now on him.

"Well that's confidential."

"Not after I break you're arm."

This is worst than I thought.

"Look, the point is I got two tickets to the Steel Stakes next show. If you wanna join?"

Willow stays silent, eyes unfocused as she thinks it through. "No. Now leave me alone."

I watch everything play out with disappointment. Not for this, for the fact he'll blame me for what happened and probably take away the game.
