Ella's Point of View:

"So, Ella, um, I need to tell you something privately," Alex mumbled.

Looking up from my food, I tilted my head in confusion.

"Everything okay?" I asked softly, making the others look at Alex in question.

"Yeah, everything is fine, just a little talk," he said.

Nodding my head, I watched him get up from the dinner table and walk away.

"You are in so much trouble," Dax mumbled before laughing loudly and slapping his lap.

Rolling my eyes, I quickly rushed towards Alex, ignoring Dax's words.

"Are you sure everything is okay?" I asked softly when I got to his side.

Again, he nodded before opening a door.

"Come in, please," he said with a smile.

Nodding my head, I took a step into the giant office.

"Take a seat," he mumbled while rubbing his eyes.

Alex looked tired, not in a grandpa way, just from too much work.

"I think you need a break," I mumbled with a smile.

He said something I couldn't quite catch but nodded his head.

"Turns out, our grandparents found out you stay with us and want to meet you," he explained.

"Sorry, what? I don't have any more grandparents," I mumbled before shaking my head.

"Of course, you do. The old lady you stayed with was your father's mother, not ours," he said with a sigh.

"Oh," I whispered, looking away. I forgot about my mother's family because my grandma never mentioned them to me.

"So by next week, they will be coming to this house with some of our relatives. You and the twins will go shopping again for a dress, okay?" Alex explained with a smile.

Nodding my head, I was ready to stand up when I remembered something.

"Where are your guys' parents?" I asked softly, looking at him.

I watched his expression change more quickly than I could imagine.

"Dead, a long time ago," that was all he said.

I was about to say sorry, but from the look on his face, I knew he didn't want my pity.

With a nod, I stood up from the chair, ready to walk to my room.

"Also, Ella, I hope you are ready. Our grandparents ain't nice people," he said.

Not knowing what to say, I just nodded my head before walking out.

Maybe I'll finally get what happened to my parents from these people.
