Y/n's pov

'Ahhh. Ah.' You stare at Captain Yoo as you are assigned to attend to his wounds, him currently groaning in front of you on the patient bed as he holds his arm. 'It hurts too much.' He says as he glances at your furrowed brows.

'Don't joke about things like that. We take pain tolerance into account when deciding treatments. You need to be honest.' You say, wiping his bleeding temple and applying pressure.

'Exactly. It's okay to be honest.' He says, falling silent immediately and looking up at you taking antiseptics. 'Just say you were worried about me.' He says again, averting his gaze as you give him a glare and disinfecting the wound.

'I went into the ruins because I knew even if I got injured, you would not let me die. You're an ER doctor.' He says as you place a plaster on his head before moving on to examine his arm.

'No, you did because it's your job. And ER doctors are not gods. Sometimes our best is not enough.' You reply, his expression falling just for a second before smiling again, pointing his finger at you.

'You're a Goddess though.' He says, avoiding your gaze once more as you stop wiping his cut on his arm and giving him a look.

'But why was he drilling into the ruins like that.' You ask, another doctor coming to give Captain Yoo anesthetics before you start stitching.

'What?' He asks back, and you take the thread and tweezers, looking back at him.

'Mr. Jin. The first time it shook wasn't because of an aftershock. He tried to drill an excavator into the ruins. Ignoring me like he couldn't hear me unlike when the soldiers told him off.' You reply bitterly, taking the thread over to the other side.

'You tried to stop him? Because you were worried for me?' He asks again, and you sigh at his persistence.

'You went off the grid. Even Sergeant Seo couldn't reach you on the radio. And I was worried for everyone else there including survivors.' You reply, cutting the remaining threads and finishing off.

'I'm as good at my job as you are in yours. That includes not dying, but if I'm struggling, I trust you to get me back onto my feet.' He says, and before you argue back, the door opens, showing Lieutenant Park.

'Dan-gyeol! Captain Yoo Shi Jin!' Captain Yoo stands from the bed ignoring your irritated expression, saluting his commander. He doesn't return the greeting, only staring at Captain Yoo with a stone face.

'How dare you, risk everyone's life by letting that livid man drill through the power plant.' He says, Captain Yoo looking at the floor as he hears his commander. 'Go run laps outside. You better be grateful your punishment stops there.'

'He is not in the right condition for extraneous work. The wounds have been stitched only now. If the skin breaks again from big movements, it'll have a higher chance of infection or bleeding. Will you take responsibility for that?' You interject, the commander looking annoyed at your comment.

'I'm fine, Sir.' Captain Yoo says instead as he glances between your blank face and the commander's irritated expression, leaving out the door.

Shi Jin's pov

I start running laps, trying my best not to move my arms and shoulders. I come to a stop as I see Dr. Kang, her turning to face me as I stand in front of her.

'You shouldn't be running yet. My friend must be annoyed now.' She says, giving me some vitamin pills.

'Thank you. I heard Haesung will be sending another plane in two days. Do you know if Dr. Han is on the list?' I ask, her lips pulling into a smile.
