Chapter 28- Billion dollar client

Sarah's Pov

My palm was all red and paining, that must have been a hard one for him. I didn't even look back once after I left the washroom.

Passing through the crowd I went towards Alice, my intern.
"Hey, do you have my laptop?" I asked
"Yes of course" Alice replied and then started moving towards the area where her things were kept

She handed me the laptop and then looked at my hands which were shivering.
"Oh my god! What's wrong?" She asked
"Come with me" I replied

We both went towards the opposite end of the venue that had a quiet room, more like a lounge

I took out the pen drive from my bag, and the shock was quite evident on Alice's face.

"Do you carry this with you everywhere?" She said in shock and then asked again
"Wait did he? Did he do something?"

"Breathe Alex, and sit down," I said and connected the pen drive to the laptop

The pen drive had all the original security camera recordings of Karl harassing his employees. All the evidence that is required to prove him guilty in all of his criminal cases going on

The day I was assigned as a lawyer to Karl. Henry made him sit and sign a NDA (non-disclosure agreement) that he would never do something like that ever again and if he did we would drop him

"Transfer the videos in a file and send it to this email," I said while giving her the laptop and she started doing it

I heard a knock on the door and saw Agam standing there, I can not talk to him about this right now and I surely don't need any man doing things for me. I can very well handle it myself

I will tell him once everything is done, but considering how impulsive he is tonight I can not take any chances

I got up from my place and went towards him
"What happened-" before he could finish his sentence I cut him off and said
"Agam I can not talk to you right now, baad me baat karte hai"
(Agam, I cannot talk to you right now, let's talk later)

"Sarah I need to know-" he said again and again I stopped him

"Agam please, you have done enough for today" I said and I saw his jaw clenching
He left without saying anything and I feel really bad for treating him like this or not telling him things, but I will once everything is done

I took a deep breathe, took out my phone and dialled a number and she picked up the call on the first bell

"To what do I owe this pleasure?" A voice came from the other end of the phone

"Hello Victoria" I said

Victoria Anderson is a district attorney and my law school batch mate. We never got along well, we both were academic rivals, but that doesn't mean that we hated each other. Though I always loved seeing her face whenever she used to come second

"What is it Sarah? You never call me for a chit-chat" She said in an annoyed tone

"Check your mail" I said

There was a silence for few seconds and then she asked "What is this?"

"It's an anonymous tip or a small gift from an old friend, whatever helps you sleep at night" I said with a smirk on my face and could see Alice's face turning pale and a look of utter shock all over it

"You know this will make you lose his other case" She reminded me
"I cannot lose a case I am not fighting" I replied
"He did something to you too right?" She asked
"Victoria let's just stick to the short conversation that we always do" I said
"He is at the party right now?" She asked
"Yup, should I tell Henry the storm is coming?" I asked
"You definitely should" she replied and ended the call
