Chapter 9 - The proposal

Agam's Pov

'They look so good together, Drishti ji Akshit ki to ho gyi shaadi lage hath Raghu ki bhi kardo' some random aunty said

I don't know why but it made me feel uneasy. The urge to punch this man is increasing day by day

Why the fuck is he running behind my bee
At that moment all I wanted to do was to stop them. I stood in her way and my clumsy bee clashed with me

'Shoes' I asked her forwarding my hands for a second, she was following my order like a lost puppy and I think i liked it, a smirk formed on my face but soon she came back in her senses and tried to say something in the same commanding voice and realised what she was doing

'Not a single penny less than Fifty Thousand'
Oh my so innocent bee, the way she asked me in such a tone, i would've given her a million

I placed the money on her palm and my hands involuntarily moved to get the other bundle and I circled it on her head

The moment I did this I realised we were the centre of attention and everyone was looking at us only, I shouldn't have done this but they shouldn't have paired her up with Raghu

She gave me the shoes and turned around without even saying a single word

'Agam! Come with me' I heard maa saying as she was standing behind me

As soon as we were out of the hall maa dragged me to her room

'You shouldn't have done that Agam' she said in a firm voice

'What maa?' I asked her

'Don't try to be so innocent you know what I am talking about' she said pulling my ear

'Ma it's a ritual we had to give her the money in return of the shoes' I replied to her in an innocent tone

Soon mama started with her scolding again
'Oh stop it! Don't try to turn the situation, what you did was not good at all. When I asked you if I should send proposal to her parents, you denied it and now you did this, do you even know how our society is too quick to judge and also she is an unmarried young girl the kind of things they'll be talking about her ufff why you guys are like this, why don't you all listen to me for once'

'I never said no to that, I always said we'll talk about it later' I said to her making her raise her eyebrows

'So you are saying that you have no problem with it' she asked with an ear to ear smile on her face

I nodded and while making my way out of her room I said 'only if she is okay with this'

'Yes yes ofcourse' maa replied

I went straight towards my room because I didn't had the energy to face her right now

Next morning

Kavya's Pov

'Do you think Agam likes Sarah?' I asked

'I don't know what is going in his head right now, I will talk to him though' Akshit replied while setting his hair

'You look beautiful today baby' he said, walking towards me and kissed my forehead

'You say that everyday' I replied while hugging him

'It's because you always look beautiful Mrs. Kavya Akshit Roy' he replied while breaking the hug

'Thankyou Mr. Roy' I said to him and went towards the nearby table to get the box which had vermilion in it
