CHAPTER 34: the best reward

ADITI'S POV:

It was such a hectic task to arrange for the t-shirt with his name. I know I was going overboard and this was something i would've never done but doing this for him felt right. He's the most hardworking college student i've ever met and he deserves to feel special. And also, I wanted him to know how special he is to me, hehe.  By the time i reached there, the first half was already over and by looking at the scoreboard, our team didn't look like it was in a good condition. My eyes searched for sathvik through the crowd and as soon as I spotted him, I could easily make out that he was upset. Was it because of me? Ofcourse dumbass you were late afterall! As soon as the second half started, I made sure to cheer for him the loudest and by the look of his face, I knew he recognised me, and damn the way he played after this. I am glad i have this effect on him. Finally after we won he came running to me and started spinning me around. We were on cloud nine. And when i confessed that i went through all the trouble for him and i would do this only for him, His face was such a tomato. But still, I am glad i could make him blush.

SATHVIK: okayyy soo peanut, We won the match and i did pretty well, agreed?

ADITI: yep. Totally agreed.

SATHVIK: What do i get as a reward for winning the match?

ADITI: what do you want??

SATHVIK: i want to spend the whole day with you.

I couldn't help myself but blush. Is this what he wanted?? to spend the whole day with me?? I couldn't feel anymore special.

ADITI: okayy where do you wanna go?

SATHVIK: That's a surprise. I'll change and come!! wait for me??

ADITI: suree!!

With that he went towards his team and then they all went towards the dressing room. I was waiting for him patiently when I saw a few girls approaching me. UH-OH. They're the biggest bullies of this college. What do they want from me?

BULLY1: heyy i won't beat around the bush, stay away from sathvik, he's my boyfriend.

ADITI: awwww i know its good to live in dreams but ultimately we have to face the reality. And in reality, sathvik is not even your friend. Boyfriend doesn't even come in context here.

BULLY2: don't you think you're speaking too much? do you even know who we are?

ADITI: why? have you guys forgotten who you are so that i have to remind you?

BULLY3: just shut up and do as we say.

ADITI: I won't and its final.

BULLY1: you-

SATHVIK: what's going on here?

ADITI: nothing just friendly talk. Should we head out?

He smiled sweetly at me and I held his hand making the girls' eyes go wide. I smirked at their reaction. I already loved claiming him as mine in front of everyone. 

SATHVIK: ahhah peanut holding hands and all huh?

ADITI: why don't you want to?

Saying that i tried to pull my hand back but he grabbed it back again.

SATHVIK: never try to remove your hand from mine again, I don't like it.

I just gave him a sweet smile and replied with an okay. It had been 15 minutes since we had started walking and i couldn't hold anymore.

ADITI: sathvik where are we going?

SATHVIK: that's a surprise peanut!

ADITI: pretty pleasee??? just a hint??

I gave him my puppy eyes. I knew he could never resist them.

SATHVIK: ughh don't look at me like that..! Just one hint!! deal??

ADITI: yess!! deal..!

SATHVIK: kids like you will love that place.

ADITI: ohh i see- wait i am not a kid!!

SATHVIK: yes you are peanut! short sweet and cute..! just like a kid.

ADITI: i hate you.

SATHVIK: we both know that's not the truth.

ADITI: ughh whatever.

SATHVIK: you say whatever a lot.

I couldn't help but miss my friends at this statement. All of them were having their own lives now. I myself got busy with this crackhead beside me. I can't even imagine what would be their reactions when i tell them about sathvik. Not that we're dating but still, I liked a guy and it was huge for someone like me.

SATHVIK: we're here!

I looked up and wait- WE WERE IN FRONT OF A CARNIVAL???!!!!! was this a reward for him or for me??? I love this day already!

ADITI: reallllyyyy???? is this where you want us to spend time together???? I reallyy can't believe this!! OMG you're the bestt!!

SATHVIK: I know I know, shall we go in?

ADITI: yesss lets goooo!!

I didn't wait for another second and dragged him in with me. There were soo many things to do. So many games to play, so many food items to try and the best part was that i was going to try this with him.

SATHVIK: what do you want to do first?

ADITI: uhmmm bumping carss!!

SATHVIK: oh yeah sure. You like bumping i know. I still remember how you bumped into me the first time.

ADITI: heyy it was you who bumped!

SATHVIK: whatever makes you happy peanut.

I just kept whining while following him as he bought the tickets.
We were waiting in the que while he turned around with a completely serious face as if he was my dad.

SATHVIK: you have to be careful while playing. You can't bump too hard. And don't jump too much on your seat. You'll hurt yourself.

ADITI: wtf i don't even jump on any seat!!

He just grinned widely and ruffled my hair before turning around and i just stood there with a pout on my face. 

It was soon our turn as we made way towards our cars. My first bump was ofcourse for sathvik to which he replied with a stronger bump. We both were just randomly bumping into each others' cars and other random people's cars as well. On the whole, it was just too much fun.

TIME SKIP

AFTER TWO HOURS.

After the bumping cars, we played shooting the balloons game, we went on the merry go round, and we took a tour of the whole carnival in the toy train as well. Only one word could be used to describe this day so far, PERFECT. after so much of activity I was feeling hungry, which is why we were here at the food court.

SATHVIK: what do you want to have peanut?

ADITI: french fries and lemonade pleaseee!!

SATHVIK: sweet! anything else.

I just shook my head saying no and he went away to get our food while i stood there, waiting for him. I felt someone touching my leg and I looked down only to find a cute little girl looking at me with her big innocent eyes. She gestured me to come closer to her when I smiled.

GIRL: the guy who was with you, is he your boyfriend?

ADITI: no cutie piee.. he's my friend.

GIRL: can i make him my boyfriend please *puppy eyes*.

I couldn't help but laugh at her cute little gesture. I just shook my head at her.

ADITI: why don't you ask him if he wants to be your boyfriend?

At the exact time, sathvik arrived.

SATHVIK: who's this little princess?

ADITI: your future girlfriend.

SATHVIK: huh?

ADITI: ask her

SATHVIK: hii young lady!! how are you??

The little girl blushed. Aww she's soo cute. But one thing was for sure. Kids these days were too fast.

GIRL: umm i-i am f-fine.  C-Can I ask y-you something??

SATHVIK: suree!

GIRL: will you be my boyfriend??

Sathvik's jaw hit the floor and I couldn't stop myself from laughing at his reaction. This was surely going to be the best part of the carnival.

SATHVIK: you see princess, you're still too young for this. How about this?? you study hard and you'll find someone even better as your boyfried!

GIRL: i'll find someone better?? promise??

SATHVIK: pinky promise!! now go ahead!! your mom must be waiting for you.

The little girl nodded with a happy face and ran away. 

ADITI: that was really cute. You should've made her your girlfriend you know.

SATHVIK: well I have someone else in my mind for that position you know.

He said looking intensely at me. That's it, i had reached the limit of blushing.

SATHVIK: here! your food

ADITI: you got me ice cream too??

SATHVIK: yep! i thought you would like it!!

ADITI: yesssss!! I would love to have it.

With that we both had our snacks and proceeded with exploring the carnival. 

TIME SKIP

IN THE EVENING

Right now we are that the game where we have to throw the rings to win a prize. My eyes were set at the huge panda stuffed toy. Yes.. i love pandas. But the problem was, I had already lost five chances out of the six and this was my last chance.

Come on aditi, you can do it. I encouraged myself and with full determination i threw the ring towards the panda only for it to land atleast a half feet away from it. My jaw dropped to the floor while sathvik started laughing loudly beside me.

ADITI: shut upp!! don't laugh!! you don't know how difficult this is. 

SATHVIK: no peanut, it was definately your poor skills.

ADITI: people who only watch don't get the right to speak.

SATHVIK: okay then, I'll get the soft toy at my first attempt.

ADITI: in your dreams.

With that, he paid for his turn and threw the ring and- wait what?! he got it??! at the freaking first try?!! how is it even possible?!

SATHVIK: told ya peanut. skills.

ADITI: whatever.

I just walked away from there being embarrassed while he followed me from behind and his laugh never stopped. He slowly stepped beside and forwarded the panda in front of me.

SATHVIK: Here you go, I got this for you.

ADITI: but why me? you won it!

SATHVIK: you think I like playing with a panda stuffed toy? No thanks, you can have it. It's for you.

I couldn't help but give him a huge smile. I took the panda from him and muttered him an enthusiastic thank you.

We were further walking while I spotted the ferris wheel.

ADITI: sathvik!! the ferris wheel pleasee!!

SATHVIK: ok ok calm down. I am getting the tickets. 

He went to get tickets for us while i waited in the line impatiently. Soon he was back with the tickets and it was our turn already. We both got in, in a compartment and the ferris wheel started moving. It felt so calm and peaceful. A comfortable silence engulfed us as we both enjoyed the slow breeze hitting our faces. The wheel stopped at the top most position for a few minute and I couldn't help but be mesmerized at the view in front of me.

ADITI: Isn't it beautiful?

SATHVIK: yeah it surely is.

I turned my head towards him only to find him looking at me with a soft smile and eyes filled with admiration. I blushed when I realized what he meant by the statement he made just a few minutes ago.

This day couldn't get any better.

TIME SKIP

SATHVIK'S POV:

We had a blast today at the carnival with each other. Well i had initially planned to ask her out on a date but chickened out at the moment. Well she agreed nevertheless so it was a date atleast from my side. The whole day was just filled with happiness and the moment right now was making me feel even more happier.

We were walking towards her house, holding each others hands. She had the panda in her free hand while another one was held by mine. We were walking silently, none of us courageous enough to start a conversation. 

Suddenly, she came to an abrupt halt while i looked behind at her with a confused expression.

ADITI: we're here, that's my place. 

She pointed at a house in front of us.

SATHVIK: ohh.

I couldn't help but get disappointed. I know i was being greedy but i wanted to spend more time with her.

ADITI: you should get going now. It's late. Your siblings must be waiting.

SATHVIK: I'll leave but you go in first.

She simply nodded while approaching the main door of her house. She was just about to open the door while she abruptly stopped. Again. She slowly turned around and came jogging towards and I was sure as hell i had a confused expression on my face.

SATHVIK: what happened-

Before I could complete my sentence, I was left speechless. What she did, left me completely speechless.

SHE GAVE ME A KISS ON MY CHEEK!

i couldn't utter a single word but I was sure as hell my cheeks were as red as a tomato.

ADITI: t-thank y-you f-for t-the p-panda a-and c-congratulations once again.

She said looking at her feet but lifted her head up eventually and gave me a shy smile. I didn't even get a moment to process while she ran inside her house.

I just stood there, smiling like a fool and made my way to reach my own house, jumping like a teenager.

IT WAS SURELY THE BEST REWARD I'VE EVER RECIEVED!
