Medusa [Mythical Mirror]

For my beauty
I was raped
For her duty
In a monster, I was shaped

He didn't pay even half the price
But my beauty and then life, I had to sacrifice
When through even pain, I found a paradise
His son beheaded me without even thinking twice

I was her priestess at first
Still, she punished me for his crime
For his mistake, I was cursed
This fact has gotten buried with time

I am not evil, I never was
Made me this way, a cause
These unfair and flawed godly laws
Where beheading a victim earns applause

Millions of years have passed
I was getting over the wrong decision
But that one free breath became my last
Didn't stop his son, my stony vision

All of this is revolving in front of my eye
When the gods, his sword means to satisfy
When my idle lied 'Justice I never deny'
Then, my tale she couldn't seem to justify

She said 'I defiled her sacred place'
But I was forced by him
Still, she snatched away my grace
As sense of betrayal filled me to the brim

Yet the biggest criminal was set free
To prey on some other girl just like me
While my vision forced me to flee
To lock myself for other's safety

The snakes on my head
Whisper in my ear at midnight
'Any more tears you shouldn't shed
We aren't like the world and will not bite'

Those were my only hope that the world isn't cruel
But sent my faith in exile, this baseless godly rule
When I was rooted in disbelief like a fool
After seeing my long lost idle's gift to be his tool

He kept my head like an award
Unaware a part of my soul lived there
And I see that now, as per the record
'Medusa was the evil Gorgon with snake hair'

Hey there, depressed souls! Long time no see. I mean, I was publishing weekly in my new poem collection but still, this one is really special for me. 

As promised, I am publishing my poems for competitions here. This one was for the competition 'Mythical Mirror'. I hope you like it. Do tell me your views upon it. As you all are well aware, your feedback is very precious to me.

ALSO, we are currently sitting on 2.64K views which is absolutely CRAZY! Like, how??? I didn't even publish anything here. You guys are simply magical, to say the least. Just know, that I love you all with all my heart.
